Copper hair colouring

My mother is 72 years old. Just an average conservative senior lady, she has a short grey pixie cut, wears a little makeup and generally takes care of her appearance.

She has suddenly started dressing in much younger styles, which dont really suit her. Yesterday she told me she has booked an appointment with her hairdresser to have her hair dyed a red coppery colour. I have not mentioned any of these changes to her, but am worried she will look ridiculous. On the other hand she may look great afterwards.

I dont want to be critical and ruin her confidence, but by the same rule I dont want her to be embarrassed if anybody makes hurtful comments to her.

What do you think? Should I have a quiet word. Or let her be herself and hope it does look ok

Please don't say anything, it sounds like your mum has reached her 'dont give a shit' era, let her enjoy experimenting with her style.

I’m curious why you think you have the right to ‘have a quiet word’. Being her daughter and her being older does not automatically mean you get to make decisions for her?

Bit harsh. I can assure you my mother would not allow me to make decisions for her.

Yes I think you may be correct.

Good for her, having confidence and interest to try new styles, she sounds fab.

She’s the same age as me. She might not actually tell you to fuck off if you have a quiet word but I can assure you she’ll be thinking it.

Sounds like a great choice to me.
Bet she'll look fabulous.
