Nail Varnish - Allergic to most!

Is anyone else allergic to nail polish? If so, what do you use? If I use any kind of varnish, my nails shred and come away in chunks within 24 hours. I thought i'd try OPI Nail Envy again, applied this in Feb and have only just started to get my nails back to any strength as it absolutely stripped them.
I've tried the usual suspects being Nailberry, Nail Kind, essie with Nailberry causing chunks of nail to come away.

I'd love to look pretty and feminine like instead of having to do a home buffer type look. Ok - yes I have strong nails otherwise but I'd love a tad of pretty colour.

Gloves. I'd scare horses and little children otherwise.

Oh!!!!

I rarely wear nail polish but did recently. Just a cheapo one from B&M. It didn't last long and now all my nails are peeling off in layers. I never thought of an allergy!

I shall watch your post with interest, @FluentAquaMoose

Yes I’m allergic to the solvents in nail polish and my eyes swell up. I’ve used water based polishes with rarely an issue, Acquarella were the best. Now I use gel polish many brands don’t use solvents. Until you know the ingredient causing the trouble it’s trial and error but I’d steer clear of any normal nail polish they all contain similar ingredients no matter what they claim. You could try press on nails using the sticky tabs?

Have you tried buffing tools that make it look like you are wearing clear polish . . . your nails are shiny, but there is no polish at all?

Dd has this so I can’t wear it either as there’s a risk I’ll touch her face. I wear gels (I have a home machine) and dd wears stick on nails. Dd is 13.
