Update my biker jacket?

Hi S&Bers

i love biker jackets, bling, and 90s/00s so bought this old Kookai gold leather jacket on vinted. It fits perfectly but… it feels way more dated than I expected, instead of deliberately retro, I think because it hits at the mid/low hip.

Do you reckon it would update it to crop it? The zip would of course stop working and it would have a raw edge, so I don’t want to do it if it would still feel dated. I’ll send it to the charity shop otherwise.

And if you think it would work, where to cut it to? My natural
waist is quite high.

Personally I wouldn't alter a jacket like that , I'd sell it on and buy another.
But it uou do want to keep it and get it altered I'd have it done professionally. Take it to a couple of different tailors to see what they can do for you.

Suspect professional alteration would cost several times what the jacket cost. But you may be right. In which case, same question - will it look more current cropped? I wouldn’t want to spend £100 on alterations and then it still doesn’t look right.

Could you put some press studs or very small stitches in it and tack it into the shape you would like and wear it out for the day to see how you feel about the look of it?
Only you will know if it looks like the right trend for you.
