what nails do I need to ask for?

never had my nails done so completely ignorant but DD (15) wants nails for the Summer. she never had them, and it's a one off.

I looked at the options in my local salons and I feel dizzy😵. Bloody heck.

I will obviously ask them too but just wanted to get some ideas so I am not ripped off. Some options are so £££. I never realised nails could be so expensive and I doubt DD need £55 nails.

Any pointers?

Are her own nails long enough to be shaped? If so she just needs gel nails.

Added: thought you had said for summer holiday as in going away. Gel nails won't last the whole of summer. But she'll hopefully get a good two weeks out of them unless her nails grow really quickly.

Ah sorry, someone else will have to advise as I've only ever had gel nails.

Possibly acrylic tips for strength with a gel overlay.
They can be pricey.

My nails are short and not very strong and gel nails are fine for me... normally last at least 4 weeks and this is because my nails get too long, not because they've chipped. Just be aware they are difficult & time consuming to remove at home so she might want to go back in to the salon for this (may be another £5 or so)

French tip nail extensions here are £48 for a new set and £43 for the infill. Lasts about 4-6 weeks depending on how well they’re looked after and speed that your nails grow.

There are some cheaper places here as well. They’re cheap for a reason.

Ask for acrylics and just get her to show a pic of what she wants them done like.
