Hi, travelling to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne at the end of August, beginning of September and am looking for advice on what to pack clothes-wise. I'm trying not to take too many clothes, as we'll be travelling between those cities and have been looking at the temperatures, so I'll need a jacket. I also live in a hot country right now, so I need to buy cold-weather stuff. TIA

I would pack layers so you can layer up or down depending on the weather.

Something else I do when travelling is to have clothes that have a dual purpose so I might wear a T shirt and then sleep in it and use it as my PJ top for a couple of days.

I have a fairly thin denim jacket that has been to Australia, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay with me.

Decide whether you are happy to spend some time doing laundry or whether you want clothes for the whole trip.

I stayed in a hotel in Cairns that had a laundry on site so I put things on to wash, had breakfast, hung it up and it was dry when I came back in the evening.

Melbourne could still be quite cold. Brisbane will be the equivalent of a UK summer, and Sydney somewhere in between.

Not very helpful I know 😂

Bring layers and a raincoat.

If you need to buy something warmer anyway and you’re flying straight to Melbourne, just hit KMart and buy a jacket. They have a packable puffer for about 15 quid.

With jeans or track pants, a couple of top layers and sneakers, this would be all the warmth you’ll need for Melbourne.

Thanks - I have a denim jacket as a start and I think my other clothes would adapt to all of the above suggestions.
