Boden Sale

I get emails daily from Boden about their sale. Today offering 60% off plus a further 70% with a code (which is printed under every item, so just bloody say 70%). Today I thought there would no doubt be something I fancied at that level of discount. Turns out no, nothing! Admittedly, I make my own dresses and trousers, so,I didn’t look at those, but still. Anyone else been taking a look? Will you buy?

The colours aren’t working for me, too garish, and who wants to dress in a pineapple print? And the cuts were weird. I ordered a load and it all went back.

AcrylicMantaRay · 06/07/2025 09:24

Same here. I so wanted to buy something but they make it impossible with their ridiculous garish prints and the frilly puffy sleeves/shoulders on everything.

spotddog · 06/07/2025 10:24

@AcrylicMantaRay totally agree re sleeves. Practically everything has puffed. Also found the fit not as good as before. I had to return everything. A complete waste of time making up an order and then having to repack to send back.

LoraPiano · 06/07/2025 10:39

I bought a dress earlier (clara dress). It looks really nice and a great fit as a petite, but my god the pattern. It's garish and it doesn't line up anywhere. Like they haven't even made an effort. A smaller pattern looks much better and uch easiler to line up.

I wonder what makes them do these weird patterns? Do they take drugs?

AcrylicMantaRay · 06/07/2025 11:03

I am also petite and have always relied on Boden for decent fitting trousers and dresses, but again those garish prints on petite frames are awful. The Clara dress in particular, on me would look like one of them house coats Italian old women wear.

RightSaidFrederica · 06/07/2025 11:12

Lots of my absolute favourite, daily wardrobe saviour clothes are Boden.

But it is SUCH a palaver to sort through their millions of crap things, so irritating to wait for a sale which you know is coming (who TF spends £250 on bog standard dresses), and so irritating to send lots back when it’s a weird shape / odd size, that I’ve slightly stopped bothering.

The did such a big push on ‘we know we’ve screwed up, we’re going back to our roots’ that I was hopeful. But I’ve noticed sod all difference and it’s such a shame!

StrikeForever · 06/07/2025 13:03

To be fair, I love a puffy sleeve on the dresses and tops I make. I’m also not averse to a dramatic pattern, but Boden is still not doing it for me. In recent years, I have found their tee shirts are made in very thin jersey and as @LoraPiano said, they don’t pattern match on the seams of their garments. I rarely do that when I make clothes, but I expect it in a very expensive RTW garment.

I like prints, bold colours and puffy sleeves but no…nothing was quite right. I did consider the Clara dress but it didn’t say the length so I didn’t bother. I’m 5ft 2 and don’t mind a midi as a maxi but I suspect the regular would drape on the floor (and the petite was out of stock).

Stillwearingskinnies · 06/07/2025 22:29

I'm 5 foot 3 and I've tried their bright, crazy-patterned dresses and tops on many occasions but it looks like the clothes are wearing me.
But i have bought a couple of plain dresses in a navy and dark green (about a year ago) and they're good for work and I find the sizing spot on. Only in the sale though.

Drivingmissrangey · 06/07/2025 22:33

Earlier on in the sale I managed to get some wide legged trousers in black (holy grail sale item!), some nice plainish t shirts, and a plain red maxi skirt. But had to wade through a lot of print to find them!

Noiamnotalison · 06/07/2025 22:41

I have a couple of plain midi/maxi dresses this year. They are a really good cut for me. Feel their petite size 10 is modelled on me. I’ve had quite a few compliments on them.

i avoid all the mad prints though. Totally agree with the ‘are they on drugs’ comment!

TheLaughOfRustyLee · 06/07/2025 23:31

Just had a quick look as I used to like a Boden button shoulder jumper back in the day.

Absolutely nothing.

I wouldn't wear any of that if it were free. Looks like they picked up a load of 70's curtain fabric and turned it into clothes.
