Im after some new gym trainers, I normally go with Nike but I ordered the running trail ones and they were so uncomfortable. I think my feet are on the wider side. Budget about 100. Dont want black but not that fussy otherwise, comfort is everything to me. Any suggestions please? Thank you

What do you do at the gym? There are so many choices linked to activity now.

I have Nike Metcon and I love them. I can’t imagine they’d be any good for running in though… great for body pump and spinning!

I bought this general trainer for strength training, spin and cross fit. It wouldn't do for running far though.

Topo and Altra specialise in foot-shaped running shoes. The Altra are all zero-drop which would be fine for general gym work, but only suitable for running if you're used to low drop and have good foot muscles. Altra are available on sportsshoes.com and you should be able to get an older model at a discount. Topo aren't available from any of the big box retailers, but you might get lucky with a discount at Northernrunner.com (shops in the north if that's any use, they will advise about choice via email), but otherwise likely to be over budget. New Balance do a lot of styles in a wide fit, so would also be a good option and widely available online, obviously.

I should have said in my original post. I normally do dance classes like zumba or aerobics classes

I like Saucony and On, have done lots of Zumba with these. Sportsshoes.com do some good discounts on last seasons trainers.

Trail shoes have less cushioning and grippier soles, you definitely don't want to wear them in a dance class!

I wear asics trainers to my exercise classes

I always used to buy Saucony and can only get them online. But last time, I ordered my usual size and they weren't big enough. So I've moved to Reebok.

I highly recommend ASICS, I've recently bought GT-2000 11 and they are incredibly comfortable - great for the gym as they have good balance and not too much cushioning to unbalance you but enough cushioning to support my feet (collapsed arches after my last pregnancy). I would highly recommend finding out what type of foot pronation you have and using that as a base as to what trainers to get. You can go in to ASICS or most running stores to do this but ASICS and New Balance (iirc) both have sections to figure this out on their websites. Buy from Sports shoe.com they have the best pricing and range
