What colour to wear with this dress/ style of shoe & headwear

Hi all,

I've bought this dress for a wedding later this month. It's really lovely on. I fancied colour blocking & have bought the attached shoes, but I don't know if they're too clumpy? Also the colour is tough to match with a bag/ head-wear (lots of orange online but it's a risk on the tone).

On top of that, unsure which headwear- chunky headband or more elaborate?

If not these shoes, which? Do I return the orange and chosen another colour? My friend has the most fab green & pink striped clutch which looks amazing, but the pink is quite bubble-gum & would be hard to match

53, small size 14, 5 foot 5, chin length blonde/ greyish/ cool toned hair.

Wedding in quite a cool, city-centre venue. It's my niece who is 33.

Thoughts gratefully received.

Also, is this style of shoe better, but not velvet?

Beautiful dress. Orange is a great colour but not the Boden shoes- they're far too clompy. They'd detract from the dress. The pointed toes are lovely- that's a far better style for that dress. Velvet is fine.

Re headgear I suppose you could go for a Jasper Conran hat? Failing that a headband but not a fascinator.

Thank you! I was questioning the clumpiiness of the shoes. I am not that traditional, so thought I'd get wear out of them. But you've helped me decide to return them.

I don't fancy the velvet, but shall look with renewed vigour for similar shoes. Would you suggest any others in style or colour?

I think a headband is where I'll go to- perhaps with a bit of interest. The Conran hats are not really my thing. But shoes first!

Love the stripes! I'd pick out the blue or green from the dress for shoes etc., just because I think it balances the colour palette better, but it would also give you more choice...

Just coming on to say I love your style! That green dress with orange shoes (I avoid velvet on my feet as it looks terrible after a few wears) would look great. I’d go with a floral or diagonal striped clutch, incorporating the green and orange. And definitely a hat. Gold jewelry.

Pretty Ballerina is my go to. These are very flat. Jasper Conran always pairs his dresses with flats.

Those are lovely. I would quite like a bit of a heel, though. I'm keeping looking & am in a big city do heading out tomorrow on a search.

I was thinking of trying to match the dress with shoes & it gives more options. Definitely a case of in person shopping for that - I'll take the belt out tomorrow. My friend's bag really is fabulous & I'm tempted.

Yes, I'm a gold jewellery person. My friend's bag is green & pink striped - chunky stripes, so I may get green shoes & pink head-band.

But still thinking of orange if I can find nice shoes. The others are going back.

Thanks for encouraging me.

Ooooh, risky going for green shoes with a green dress 😬. They will be either too matchy matchy, or just a bit off. Would you do hot pink shoes and gold headband (I see you’ve decided against a hat - probably wise!) with gold jewelry?

Hot pink shoes are a definite option, but then I'd find a different bag- friend's is green & bubblegum pink. I know what you mean about the matchy-matchy, I would definitely not go a shade out.

Oliver Bonas had a nice, gold head-band when I was in the other day- food for thought. Thank you.
