Summer holiday - what's the best product you take with you?

I'm off to sunny climes in two weeks time and am fed up of being a sweaty mess on holiday!

What's the BEST thing you take?

My hair is my biggest issue - I have thick collar length hair which has a tendency to go all 'Monica' in the heat / humidity.

I'm menopausal too which doesn't help!

I've just bought nivea dry comfort. It's like an antiperspirant cream. I rub a bit around my hairline, under my boobs and on really hot days on the inside upper thigh bit. Really controls the sweat in those areas.

I've been using colorwow dreamcoat in my hair but only really works if I dry with my Dyson airstraight, not if I just do a regular blow dry. It's no use in tropical climates though so I'll be having a keratin treatment before I go on holiday this year.

I’ve just bought my mum a handheld fan that you can also make stand. It’s hot here in Portugal and she’s glued to it. It was only £12 in John Lewis.

I recently went to Thailand for 6 weeks and it was very hot and humid. I bought some powder make-up that I would put on underneath my liquid foundation. It really helped my foundation stay on well and be less red and sweaty! I guess ordinary powder would do the trick too.

Avene Thermal spring water spray - the small cans are brilliant for popping in a bag when off out sight seeing.

Powdered sunscreen for my parting. Stops burning and soaks up sweat!

lindyloo57 · 01/07/2025 18:45

I use a powder foundation in the heat like laura geller balance and brighten, it seems to last longer on the face than liquids foundation which just melts off me.

Moleskin to stick on feet or inside sandal straps to prevent blisters from sweaty feet.

If going hand luggage only, the solid antiperspirants don’t count as liquids. Mitchum is my go-to. Ditto solid powder foundation, and soap instead of shower gel.

Fancy hairclaws as my hair is never down in the heat, so easy - just wash and go (up lol). And mineral powder, powder blush and coloured lip balm. That's the extent of my "face" in the heat. Can't go away without any of the above.

Wow, people wear foundation in hot climates on holiday?!? I admire you!!
I was going to say big pegs to attach your towel to the sun lounger!

Wow I've never been heard of that.Top tip! Wish I'd known about it before my trip, as I hate wearing hats, they make me even more hot and my parting got a bit sun burnt!

It’s great if you have light hair, lush do one but I use one from boots. I can’t remember the make but it’s got a push up brush and you just dust it on. You can dust it over your face as well. You still need a hat if it’s really hot.

I have the Hawaiian Tropic mineral powder spf 30, which I use for face and hair parting. A must have for me since that's all I use on my face in the heat!

Arraminta · 04/07/2025 00:02

I'm currently on holiday and bitterly regretting not having my usual Keratin treatment before we flew. I only have a pixie crop but my hair has gone rogue thanks to the humidity and breeze.

Ruthietuthie · 04/07/2025 00:12

I really like powered sunscreen. I use the Colorescience Powder Mineral Sunscreen. It's like a make-up brush with sunscreen in it. I use a matt unscreen on my face, then use this to top up throughout the day (reapplying the proper sunscreen as necessary). I also use it on my parting. Means that I can put sunscreen on, add some light make-up on top, then set with the powder sunscreen, rather than reapplying normal sunscreen that rubs the make-up off.

Blister blasters My feet always rub somewhere in the heat even if they never have before
micellar water and water wipes Keep in fridge
i might wear a sweep of powder and definitely Dior lip glow or Clarins soft berry but that’s it
sunscreen sunglasses and a baseball cap too

uncomfortablydumb60 · 04/07/2025 01:42

wrap hair in a scarf ( practice in front of a mirror first)
