Fine fluffy silver hair

As the title says, my hair is fine and fluffy. I used to have loads of hair but oh, the joys of ageing. Less hair on my head, much more on my chin. I'm 65.

Has anyone any recommendations to make my hair look fuller and maybe a bit bouffy? My DD is getting married soon and my intention is to just have it in my regular style but hopefully looking amazing. I'm going to upload a photo and would really appreciate any suggestions.

Most products, eg Frizz ease, morrocanoil, beeswax cream etc. make my hair look flat and within a few hours creep up from the ends to the roots, making me look like a greasy mess. But maybe there's something new on the market I haven't tried?

Oh and my hair has many shades of grey/silver/white but in my pic it looks like different shades on each side, that's just the lighting!

I haven’t any solutions for you, but I think you have lovely hair and it looks fine as it is. I wish I had the patience to grow mine like yours 🙂

PuppyMonkey · 02/07/2025 16:39

Also think your hair looks great.

Your hair looks like mine. I use Lee Stafford hair mousse for body. It’s good because it doesn’t go crispy on fine hair. After it’s dried, I use a tiny drop of hair oil rubbed between my palms and smoothed over my hair. But for a wedding, I’d always get it blow dried by a hairdresser.

Don't see anything fluffy about this hair? It looks lovely

handsdownthebest · 02/07/2025 18:49

I would say that you're overloading with the heavy products you're using.
I have menopausal frizzy hair and the best product i found is K18. it's pricey but worth every penny. I do not use any other products. I also found that using a heated brush has made a massive difference to my hair to give it more volume.

I think it looks nice...maybe get a blow-dry for your dds wedding and ask for volume.

AnnaMagnani · 02/07/2025 18:58

I have fine hair and found changing my hairdryer was a revelation. I had thought all hairdryers were the same but S&B convinced me to buy a Parlux.

They are not the same and the volume I achieved from a simple blowdry was incredible.

Also I know this isn't the question you asked but silver shampoo is amazing for grey hair, I didn't think my hair was discoloured until I tried it - made the grey really zingy.

Your hair is lovely! Mine is similar and white/blonde now - I have had it cut into a French bob style with 'curtain' fringe and I use Colour wow volume spray - all of the above have made a big difference and I work with the fluffiness now instead of against it!

Puppylucky · 02/07/2025 19:24

I also have fine silver grey hair that has gone very soft and fluffy without the bulk that my previous highlights gave it. I have just discovered my nanna's mousse by Larry Clark - shit name wonderful product. It's given my hair a bit of bounce and volume without stickiness or second day madness. That plus a quick squirt of WOW style on steroids sets me up for the day!

I use Milk Shake Whipped Cream leave in foam conditioner every second wash. It smells divine and leaves my white/ash blonde hair looking soft, shiny and bouncy (but never greasy.) I also use their black shampoo (black bottle) once a fortnight to tone down any brassy blonde bits. I think your hair looks great - I love the mix of colours.

Have you used velcro rollers, they are fab for giving root lift and body I just style my hair as normal then put 4 or 5 rollers in the crown, spray with a bitvof hairspray and leave for half an hour.

Second K18. Game changer!

IReallyLoveItHere · 02/07/2025 23:13

Which K18 products are people recommending?

handsdownthebest · 03/07/2025 16:53

Yes that's the one I use too...game changer
