Anyone tried 'tantouring' / contouring with fake tan on fat upper arms?

Just googled - its a thing - but need advice from those experienced in technique as cant afford to make a mess of it.

I despair.

I remember watching a making of Bay watch thing forever ago and they did this on the already super slim cast. I could see a difference.

They were using wash off stuff though.

Find a decent tutorial and give it a go with something that'll wash off and see if you like it.

No because I'd make a pigs ear 👂 of it. Try you tube tutorials

Kweenbeee · 25/06/2025 00:45

I've seen a couple of tutorials - it looks great - but as you say on already toned arms to show definition.

- upper arms

Also follows thru with highlighting collar bones, minimising a double chin and contouring legs (my legs wont be 'out' tho)

Need to look for another tutorial version for fat upper arms.

Will report back. Also cant afford to make a pigs ear of it ahead of a fancy function:

- YouTube

I imagine it only looks convincing from a distance, surely it looks odd if you’re standing closer to someone? A bit like you have a rather odd tan?

Chungai · 25/06/2025 06:46

I think I'd rather try it with make up than with fake tan.

Or just tan my whole arms and embrace the flab!

FlightCommanderPRJohnson · 25/06/2025 06:55

No, I cover my horrible flabby 'wings' with a light bolero type cardi in summer or a cotton scarf worn over my shoulders, or if it's too hot for that, leave them out and be damned. Putting fake tan on them would draw more attention in my opinion.

What like when people wear really heavy obvious makeup on their face?

Might look OK on stage or in photos but totally ridiculous IRL.

bluewhitebluewhite · 25/06/2025 07:14

This sounds like a terrible idea. Surely it will just look like streaky fake tan? I’d rather look pale and untoned ( and wear sleeves)

healthybychristmas · 25/06/2025 07:27

This has really cheered me up this morning! Do people really do this?

OhMyGiddyAunt · 25/06/2025 07:46

Who knew this was a thing?!

It made me think of those spoof "spray on 6 pack" stencils 😆

The best way to disguise flabby arms in photos is to put your hands behind your back if standing, or if sitting, put your hands on the seat behind and lean back on them.
