Boob boosters for prom

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 22:02

I got Dd some chicken fillets but they aren’t staying in place very well and due to the style of the bodice you can see them perking out. She’s allergic to adhesive ones.
Why they think someone who’s a size 4 is going to have big boobs is beyond me but maybe some people are lucky 🤷🏼‍♀️
Any ideas as to what she can do to make the bodice fit better? It’s a bit gapey without the fillets. It’s mesh with sequins so no bra. It’s already been altered for the length and to try and alleviate the pocket bulges. It’s beautiful and she loves it but the fit could be better.
The seamstress who did the alterations is away and prom is Thursday so no time to alter the dress again.
Any suggestions very welcome!

Maybe tape to hold the fillets in place?

Sorry but why did you buy a dress that doesn’t fit?

OldFamilyTable · 24/06/2025 23:19

unless chicken fillets have moved on significantly I cannot see how you could wear them with no bra. Find another seamstress?

CatsMagic · 24/06/2025 23:24

Is she in year 11?

She absolutely does not need any kind of boob booster, and you should not be encouraging this.

Get a professional to alter the dress properly.

She tried the dress in a size 6 in the first shop then an 8 in the second shop. We struggled to get the dress at all but it was THE dress. The woman in the second shop confirmed she needed a size 4 and so that was ordered. Dd had left it rather late and when we went to get the dress I wasn’t happy with the fit due to the pockets bulging but figured the seamstress would sort it. Dd went to pick up the dress from the seamstress by herself and didn’t try it on again to check that the alterations fixed the issue. It’s just the stupid pockets. Not much we can do now. Dd still loves the dress but needs a boost up top to stop the bodice gaping a little. The pockets are annoying but she’s not bothered.

Gaping bodice - will garment tape stop this? I’m thinking the sort that’s double sided. Re the fillets - could you lightly stitch/tack them in?

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 23:31

Sorry, I missed the other replies. There’s no chance of any alterations now, it’s too late. She’s only tried it on again tonight. It’s nothing too noticeable but she’s conscious of it being a little gapey and I want her to be comfortable and happy.

Good idea, thank you.

Something like this?

You get them from New Look, PLT & most underwear shops - they’re like chicken fillets but they attach to the body & also ‘gather up’ (for want of a better phrase) what they naturally do have and give a better shape. Worth a try.

wandawaves · 24/06/2025 23:38

Yeah i would try attaching the chicken fillets to the dress, either tacking them or I'm pretty sure you can use Hollywood tape too, depending on the fabric- you wouldn't want them coming loose halfway through the night. Re them poking out a bit, I wonder if you could trim them? Not sure about that though.

LegoTherapy · 24/06/2025 23:52

Thank you! I’ve ordered some raid and also some colourless transparent fillets. She’s been very promzilla but she’s had a tough time at school and wants prom to be perfect and I’m doing everything I can to make that happen for her by helping her be as confident as possible in her dress.
I wonder if I can take the pockets closed with the same tape.
Honestly, the money these dresses cost and the sizing is all out. She tried on over 20 dresses and none of them were what she wanted except this one. I dread to think what it will be like if/when she gets married!

If you don’t like the behaviour, you need to stop enabling it

nex18 · 25/06/2025 00:30

Can you chop up a cheap nude bra and sew the cups into the bodice? This is the kind of thing my dd does.
