Has anyone had lowlights?

I’d like to have some over my highlighted blonde hair to make it darker. Can they ever be damaging to the condition of the hair or are they always better than bleach. My hair is so damaged!

Im not a hairdresser but had plenty of highlights / lowlights done in my life. From what I know lowlights are not bleach so they will definitely be less damaging. If your hair is already damaged from the highlights and bleach then id recommend some lowlights to give your hair a break from the bleach. Have you considered a balayage? Thats what i have done and only need it touched up every few months. It grows in with my darker roots blended really nicely and the rest is bleach blonde. Its alot less damaging and hardly any maintenance.

Lowlights are a good way to break up the blonde and definitely not as damaging as bleach. A good trim and regular conditioning treatment really helps too.

Thank you both! @GreenFields07 did you have your balayage done on top of highlights, or did you have to wait for them to grow out first?

I had mine on top of highlights. They've grown out now as iv been having a balayage for years, I basically just get the blonde topped up every few months and the regrowth from my roots blends really nicely into the blonde. Im naturally like a mousey brown colour. Its so low maintenance and my hair is in amazing condition.
