Gold eyeshadow for evening event

I’m terrible at both style and beauty so would like your guru advice please.
Evening event next week. I want to look acceptable but not trying to impress. I am wearing a navy silky jumpsuit.
I don’t normally wear make up but would like to. I have an eye palette with gold in and like the look of it. What do I do with it? So many tutorials and videos I have no idea which to use!
Age 50. Short dark hair, smallish face. Will wear some blue and gold jewellery.

I’m far from a guru but I like gold eyeshadow, and I think it works best v simple, just a simple pale primer, gold all over top lid, and mascara. Can’t find a tutorial but what I mean is like the pic in this link:

Maybe a bit of liner but it’s easy to go overboard and look like an ancient Egyptian.

Combine with doing the rest of face quite basic - eyebrows, foundation if you use it, or tinted moisturiser, and a not OTT lip colour like a pinkish nude.

Go for it. I wear sparkly eyeshadow like this on the daily!
Like PP said I keep the rest simple (mainly coz Im so short sighted I cant really see what Im doing!).

I wet my eyeshadow brush and apply about half a centimetre of the gold on the lid and blend out with some neutral nude or mid brown. Give yourself a couple of goes before the event rather than tying yourself down to half an hour to go!
