Does anyone know why this is out of stock everywhere? Very much hoping this is a temporary situation!

Me too! I rely on it to keep my greys under control.

Raspberried · 21/06/2025 12:23

I've just bought two bottles at extortionate cost on eBay.

The plantur version is really good

Buiderswoe · 21/06/2025 12:27

John Frieda are awful at just stopping products and then introducing new ones which are nowhere as good as the old ones.

Raspberried · 21/06/2025 12:27

Ok thanks - is it similar to defy grey?

I’ve just forked out for this. Hope it works as it’s not cheap!

Watching this thread. I found the foam particularly effective but that's definitely been discontinued. Not even on their website now.

Mamamia35 · 17/09/2025 12:33

I’m gutted about this and wish I’d bought in bulk now.

Mamamia35 · 17/09/2025 18:41

@Dr13Hadley Is the Polar any good?

Nomsdeplume · 26/12/2025 09:50

Did any of you find a good alternative? My stash has just finished and I’ve just realised that it’s discontinued as I can’t order any more!

disappearingfish · 26/12/2025 09:55

I switched to Plantur, I think it’s better than JF Defy Grey but makes showering long (you need to leave it on for 2-5 minutes). It’s also a bit utilitarian so I do add a bit of a different shampoo that smells nicer.

Raspberried · 26/12/2025 13:08

I have also switched to the plantar - the brown one. I agree it's much better. I used to also use semi permanent dye every month or so, but I have stopped doing that now and just use the shampoo.

Fantastic - thank you so much for the feedback! I’ll need to order one tonight.

Is it the brown bottle at around £10.99 that you use? Or is it the anti-grey effect at £19.99?

thanks again

Itsybitsytitsy · 26/12/2025 19:52

I put it on my dry hair, around the front greys as I am getting ready for a shower, then shampoo again in the shower then I don't take as long in the shower

Myoldbones · 27/12/2025 01:14

I’ve never seen this before. Does it colour your hair? How does it work?

Raspberried · 27/12/2025 05:57

I use the brown one
Very effective at turning the grey hairs golden. Has a bit of a reddish hue but that suits my colouring

You can still get the John Frieda one on Amazon.

I can only see the conditioner as available, not the shampoo as well?

Do you know if it affects colour / highlights in your hair?

Raspberried · 27/12/2025 16:15

@notatinydancer That I'm not sure about sorry!

Buiderswoe · 28/12/2025 09:18

I’m trialling the brown plantar at the minute…first wash I didn’t really see any difference, second wash I may be hallucinating but I do sense my whites are less bright white and more warm white…will persevere and report back! I’m about 40% grey and pretty much all at the front. I’m hoping for blonde highlights look but I love the fact it will totally wash out. After spending 3 years growing out my dye, I’m a bit paranoid and couldn’t bare the grow out phase again.

debster275 · 02/01/2026 03:11

I got both Defy Grey shampoo & conditioner from Amazon & it was next day delivery too
