What top over this strappy dress?

I really like this dress. But I cannot expose my skin (medical reasons) so would have to wear a top over it. What sort of thing would go? Apart from white - I just know I'd be grubby by the time I got to work!

Seems a shame to cover the top - might as well buy separates - but as needs must, I’d avoid swamping the cinched waist and go with a short/cropped jumper in the dark maroon (or is it brown?)

Difficult to tell about the colour on a screen. I'd say that all the colours have a slight orangey tone to them.

I haven't found anything yet that shows off the waist + covers my skin + has the right colour tone.

Ho hum.

I'm really trying not to buy speculatively, in the hope that I find something to go with whatever it is. But...

Hmm. Clearly autocorrect does not appreciate my colour vocabulary. Ochrey tone, not orangey.

A thin shirt or blouse in one of the colours that are in the dress.

Could you put a t-shirt under it?

Linen shirt over top but tied in a knot instead of buttoned? Or a cropped cardi or lightweight bolero style shrug?

I don't think I'd put a t-shirt under that sort of 'bikini' top, but if I could let the to hang down invade the waistband, then I could perhaps wear the dress as a shirt and tuck a t-shirt in?

Not opaque enough.
