White blotchy gradual tan, please help!

Hi all, I’ve been trying to get a bit colour for my holiday on Sunday but been having a disaster and getting really frustrated! It went like to to start with so I used a tan remover and I exfoliated to an inch of my life and I always ensure it’s always applied evenly (definitely didn’t miss the patches where it’s white) yet still it ends up like this. I don’t suffer with eczema. I don’t tan too often, please can someone help me? What can I do? Is there anything I can put over the top to cover up the white patches (something that won’t just wash off)? One of my arms looks perfect but the other one and my legs are patchy. Attached a pic of the tan I use.

You haven't accidentally got water on after application have you ? That's happened to me this week so I've gone over it with a real fake tan to try to blend
I actually prefer the proper false tan with guide colour now as I can see where it's gone. The bit by your arm might just have worn off due to movement or clothing ?

Nope definitely no water, and I left top off for a while to let it sink in properly and then worse a very loose fitting t shirt. Did the fake tan over the top work to blend it in? I haven’t used fake tan that isn’t gradual in about 10 years so wouldn’t know where to start looking!

Did you exfoliate before?

lrrf · 20/06/2025 08:52

Yes I exfoliated like never before! The other arm and backs of legs look fine, and where it’s even it’s a nice colour!

How odd! You could try having it done professionally or try another brand.

The reason I stopped using the proper fake tabs was because it always used to fade super scaly where as this one never does, I wonder if it’s just my skin. If anyone has any recommendations on ones that don’t fade scaly please let me know!

Do you use a mitt? Also I very very lightly tan my knees and then on subsequent days I don’t as otherwise mine go like yours

lrrf · 20/06/2025 08:57

No I just use my hands for this as it’s just like a moisturiser. I did try and just go over my knees/ankles/elbows very lightly which has worked well apart from the knees. Do you think I should give legs another layer tonight after showering or will it still be patchy?
