Help me - which buttons

I’ve bought this lovely linen jacket on Vinted and I can see the seller has removed buttons.

im toying with the idea of buying some and sewing them back on but can’t decide what type. Anyone with a good eye to help? I’d wear this with a lot of things! There are holes for 4 buttons.

What colour is it? I can't tell whether it's black or blue. I'd go for some tortoiseshell ones probably.

How big are the buttonholes?

I would take it with you to the haberdashery and see what looks nice.

Best option is to go somewhere that sells buttons: Hobbycraft, the Range (I think), John Lewis, local sewing shop or market stall. Otherwise work out the size you need in mm and try online - natural shell or metal buttons may look more classy than blue plastic.

I think metal buttons would look nice, maybe antique silver for a natural look. Minerva Fabrics have some nice ones to order online.

Thanks everyone. The jacket is like a washed out royal blue and the button holes are about 3/4” in diameter. I thought tortoise shell too. I like mother of pearl type but I’m not sure that’ll work. The jacket looks quite nice without so I suppose I could leave it too.

Buttons can be expensive. Look in a charity shop for something that has nice buttons. You might be lucky.

Try what you think you like and see if it works. You can always try a different set or remove them.
