Posture

I'm one of those people who generally looks utterly shit in photo's. Went away last week with a group of my uni friends (so 30 years ago when we met) and felt like I'd aged quite well. My skin is decent, I'm not overweight (could do with losing half stone though) and my hair is okay. Had some photos through and I look like crap. I'm a size 10 in most things and one of the smaller of the group but on the photos, I look like the most overweight.

I think this must be down to my proportions and posture. I am a triangle shape (shoulders wider than hips) and quite muscular. I think I have a short neck and my shoulders naturally sit rotated forwards. If I pull my shoulders back my chin and neck just seem to stick out like a turtle. I have a flat stomach but no waistline so I basically just look like a brick. My face also looks round from the front - it's not particularly but I don't have a defined bone structure.

How can i improve my posture to look better?

I know ow some really beautiful women who never look good in photos. They are just not photogenic. I'll bet you don't look awful in real life at all.
My new driving license came back, I look like I've just had a stroke 😂

Fellow suffered here - I have a rounded spine. The Alexander Technique could help you. I've done a few classes recently and it's helped me. One thing you can do right away is walk about with some books on your head every day - it will help you feel what your correct posture feels like.

Look up pelvic tilt - this is the cause of most poor posture in women IMO. Once you see it you can’t unsee it! I’m convinced most people on here who are sure they look awful in every outfit as they’ve got a terrible figure actually have a perfectly good figure but poor posture.

Pilates - with a proper teacher and in person. I was exactly the same and I can’t believe how it has changed my shape and posture. Friend actually thinks I have got taller- obviously not, am WAY past a growth spurt, but yes it makes that much difference. Go to a beginner class if you can to get the alignment and basics absolutely right.
