Tell me how you dealt with your “11s”

I loathe mine, and after seeing some photos from a gathering last night, it’s clear mine are much worse than my friends, including those who are a few years older. The rest of my skin is fine, pretty good actually, but I have permanent frown lines.

If you’ve had yours treated, please tell me how and if you’d recommend it. Thank you!!

A further question - at nearly 47, have I left it too late?

Not at all. I waited til 45. You'll just age better and generally look a bit 'fresher'. No need to go back every 3 months either. I do it twice a year only.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 12:44

Well I’ve booked a consultation with our dental practice for next week. Never thought I’d go down the Botox route, but I’m actually weirdly excited to get this sorted.

Having spent my life frowning and squinting (astigmatism), I had terrible glabellas/11s and agree Botox is the answer. I leave all the frown lines and crow’s feet but looking grumpy affects the way people perceive me.

Gettingbysomehow · 18/06/2025 15:16

What are 11,s. Excuse my ignorance.

nuttyslackster · 18/06/2025 15:23

Good luck with your appointment! Botox works like magic for 11s (or in my case 111s!). I have also found that even though the freezing effect wears off pretty quickly, the lines are still gone. So I can push out my appointments and not have it done too often.

isitmeamithedrama · 18/06/2025 15:30

Botox. It’s the only treatment I have and the difference it makes is remarkable. I’d honestly scrimp and save to make sure I could always have it done.
good skincare is a help the rest of my skin but no lotions or potions are going to remove set lines

These are 11s - the two lines in between my brows above my nose. So called as they look like the numeral.

Frownies. They really work for me but you have to ever persist, takes a few weeks to. Price. Thereafter, though, results get better and better. I’m 61 and they’re not bad (not usually beetroot faced, in a hot bath!)

Been using them pretty regularly for coming up for 20 years now(started when I developed 11s)

Ever persist? Price? Bloody predictive text.

Sensitive image, apparently. Sorry if it scares anyone 😁

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 18/06/2025 15:53

Just started using Frownies. I think I can see a difference already! Much cheaper and less scary than botox.

Wethers121 · 18/06/2025 15:55

I am always squinting in the sun and had frown lines from mid 20s. I have Botox there now but don’t need it very regularly as my frown must be a habit and when my Botox wears off I find I don’t frown as much

Keep going! Made a very big difference for me. From deep furrows in my early 40s to barely there now.

KPPlumbing · 18/06/2025 16:32

I'm having my 3rd treatment of botox next week. I get it in my 11s and forehead.

I'm 41, so started at 40. I manage to stretch it to 3 months by using "Smoothies" for the final few weeks - small bits of sticky plastic that you wear in bed to prevent frowning in your sleep! The botox costs me £220 and I go to a proper nurse with masses of experience.

The botox makes me look so fresh and relaxed. I was determined not to get it, but caught myself in the mirror looking angry one too many times!

schmalex · 18/06/2025 19:19

Yep, botox. As a PP has said, don't skimp - go to a dentist as they understand facial muscles. Your friends are most likely already doing it.

ILikeFreesias · 18/06/2025 19:21

Botox for the first time a couple of weeks ago at 53 - love it ! So pleased with the results

JennyForeigner · 18/06/2025 19:24

Botox. It'll be visibly improved in a couple of days, a couple of treatments and you may be happy enough to then leave it for a few years.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 18/06/2025 20:17

Love Botox. Book yourself in for a consultation

Twinklewonderkins · 18/06/2025 21:30

Same as everyone else said Botox.
im 55 and started at 47, I have it 2x a year now.
hope you get a good result!

You're very welcome, I hope it might make someone think about how often women are being made feel bad about trivia

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 25/06/2025 16:13

So I bit the bullet and had it done straight after the consultation. Didn’t hurt too much - will report back on results in a couple of days when it’s had a chance to work!

You don’t look cross at all!

DangerousDolphin · 25/06/2025 17:46

Botox twice a year. I do get all three areas done now and I love it. A light touch on the forehead so there is still a bit of movement but I always ask for more on the 11s. I rarely wear any make up now apart from mascara, as my skin looks so good now with just some brightening serum/decent moisturiser. I am 45 and started getting it done around four years ago.

autumn1610 · 25/06/2025 18:24

Botox. I only get them done my face still moves I love it. I hated them so much it was practically permanent and was so conscious. I get it done twice a year. I don’t mind if it starts fading and they come back a bit I usually get it topped up when they become deeper
