If Charlie Hale (Natasha Lyonne's character in Poker Face) was getting married, what would she wear?

I'm getting married next year and I have no idea what to wear. All I know is that I don't want to wear a typical white wedding dress because its just not me and I won't feel comfortable.

My general style has the same kind of vibe as Natasha Lyonne's character in Poker Face (although obviously not as cool. I dont have a Hollywood stylist hiding in my wardrobe sadly).

Think: leather jackets over hoodies. skinny jeans and chunky boots. layers. That kind of thing.

I do like getting dressed up. I like wearing dresses and looking nice but my version of that is probably what many people would consider on the scruffier/edgier end of the scale.

So... I'm looking for a dress that is formal and matches the occasion but nothing white or... elegant.... I guess.

(and yes I am fully aware that if she was getting married in the show they would probably put her in an 80s meringue with shoulder pads. I don't want that either)

Well, I’ve tried to like Poker Face - but am somehow missing the appeal. Regardless - I have a vague idea of the sort of clothes you mean.

You don’t give a budget, but my first thought was something from here: (link directly to dresses)

I’ve been known to browse r13 occasionally; it’s sort of advanced Free People in style. Dresses aren’t their main focus but have a look anyway:

Alternatively, Horror Vacui veers in the opposite direction - wildly romantic without being ‘nice’. Have linked dresses again - imagining with genuine Wyoming made to measure cowboy boots:

Oh dear. Forget everything; buy this;

If not, at least look at the rest of Acne Studio’s dresses.

@WTHJH you're good at this. These are amazing recommendations.

It’s a pleasure!

How much are you thinking of spending? (Just so people have a rough idea for their suggestions.)

budget is very generous. I want to pretend I’m Stevie Nicks for the day. I was thinking between 1k and 3k but would consider stretching if it absolutely blew me away (can’t imagine it would blow me away enough at that price range, though). Absolutely not discounting options below that either.

What sort of wedding are you having? Small registry office or 200 guest country house or something in between? It's hard to suggest things that match the occasion without really knowing what the occasion will be like. Will the groom be in a suit (assuming your partner is male)? If not, what will they be wearing? Any bridal party or flowers to consider?
