Help with interview outfit

I've an interview, with presentation to the board of directors coming up.

I've not had an interview for over 15 years.

Coupled with having no sense of style or interest in fashion, I'm panicking.

Can anyone help me, please?

I'm size 18, boobs, bum and fat legs.

Congratulations on getting to interview stage.

Do you want help on shopping your wardrobe? Or suggestions for what you might buy? If the latter, some context regarding degree of formality, preferred style (even if you don’t think you have one) and colours - and your budget - would be helpful.

Thanks 😊

It's a reasonably senior position, the presentation is half an hour to the directors.

I need help with what to buy for the interview, mainly, until I work out how formal the company is and what they expect.

I'm a bit of a boho girl at heart, I suppose.

Budget is probably low but I'm open if they are nice items I will wear again and again.

Colours - anything that doesn't mark easily haha

@SlightlyWorriedMaybe congrats firstly on your interview!

So I did some research via AI and as a curvy lady myself, I can confirm it’s a pretty good summary that it suggest. I’ve pasted below and I hope it helps as a starting point! 🙂

For a senior-level corporate presentation, the goal is to project authority, polish, and approachability. You want to look confident and elevated without being overly formal or stiff

Here’s a curated outfit formula that works beautifully for a plus-size figure with a fuller bust and bottom — boardroom-level sleekness with strategic comfort:

🔷
Go-To Look: Power Outfit for a Senior Corporate Setting

Option 1: Tailored Dress + Blazer (Classic Power Combo)

👗
Dress

  • Style: Sheath or wrap-style with strategic seaming or ruching.
  • Neckline: V-neck or square (not too low, just open enough to flatter a fuller bust).
  • Color: Navy, charcoal, deep burgundy, dark teal — powerful but not too severe.
  • Length: Knee-length or just below.

🧥
Blazer

  • Fit: Structured with a cinched or shaped waist (single-button blazers work best on larger busts).
  • Color: Matching or slightly lighter/darker shade of the dress for a modern monochrome look.

🥿
Shoes

  • Pointed-toe flats or low block heels (2–3 inches).
  • Classic leather — black, nude, or color-matched to your outfit.

Option 2: High-Waist Trousers + Draped Blouse + Blazer

👚
Top

  • Soft draped blouse or silk shell with a V-neck or subtle wrap front.
  • Slight pleating or ruching under the bust can help avoid pulling.

👖
Bottom

  • High-waisted, wide-leg or straight-leg trousers in black, navy, or grey.
  • Look for flat-front or side-zip styles for a smooth waistline.

🧥
Blazer

  • Longer-line blazer with a slight taper.
  • Double- or single-breasted depending on how formal you want to appear (single usually flatters curves more).

Optional Additions

  • Belt: A slim belt over a dress or tucked blouse helps define the waist.
  • Jewelry: Minimal — maybe pearl or gold studs, a simple chain, and a nice watch.
  • Bag: Structured tote or leather satchel in black, navy, or taupe.

🔧 Fit & Tailoring Tips (Crucial at Senior Level)

  • Tailor where needed — sleeves, bust darts, hem. It’s worth it.
  • Fabric choice: Heavier knits or stretch suiting fabrics give a sleek silhouette.
  • Shapewear: Optional, but a smoothing layer (like a slip or shorts) can help if you’re concerned about lines.

Dress and jacket was my first thought.

SlightlyWorriedMaybe · 10/06/2025 19:07

Thanks all.

Certainly leaning towards trousers, my legs are awful (and tattooed!)

Rather insulting to imagine a forum full of grown women need AI to tell them how to dress … Hmm

Also extraordinarily boring to read. Generally I come to MN to hear from human beings.

Black tights? 😄
