What are you all wearing in this crappy weather?

I really struggle with this inbetweeny weather. Warm dry days I wear a dress, sandals and a long cardi if it gets a little chilly. Winter doesn't matter so much as I'm just wearing a big coat but I'm struggling with the current shitty and unpredictable weather.

I'm sahm so I'm really talking about school run and casual days. Today it's only about 15 degrees so I wore jeans and a t-shirt with a cardi and popped a waterproof jacket on as it looked like it was about to rain, got to school, no rain but the sun shone for all of 2 mins so I over heated in the wp jacket. I do have a trench coat which usually works well but it doesn't have a hood and I feel like I just wear it every single day!

Just looking for inspiration really.

It’s been very tricky.
I had jeans and a Breton top under my thin waterproof and got wet and cold Saturday. I had a similar weight top and shorts Sunday and was boiling all morning but then cold and goosebumpy at 4pm when it clouded over.

I’ve given up and just focusing on lighter colours/patterns and accepting I will be under and over dressed at some point in the day.

Cropped linen trousers, top and a light cardi, umbrella in my bag.

WombTangClan · 09/06/2025 22:55

Only 15 degrees 😂 good Scottish summer weather day!

TakeMe2Insanity · 09/06/2025 22:55

Jeans, tshirt, sweatshirt sandals or trainers. Warmer days are dresses.

Keepthecat · 10/06/2025 07:08

Over the past few weeks, usually a cotton sweater or a long-sleeved shirt with a fleece or cardigan on top, jeans, socks and shoes. But if the sun shines again I'm ready with new dresses and sandals.

Thermal vest back on yesterday!!🥶

Seymour5 · 10/06/2025 07:23

Jeans or cut offs, long sleeved tee, hoodie or cardigan. Thin waterproof in bag. Flaming June!

evilharpy · 10/06/2025 07:26

Jeans, sweatshirt, boots, winter coat, general refusal to leave the house unless driving door to door.

In NI where the weather is utter shite.

See I think this is part of my problem, if I could drive I probably wouldn't care so much but I walk about half an hour to and from school twice a day.

I think I've got a weird thing about worrying that I'll be cold so I layer up but then I hate carrying anything I take off (yes I'm just being awkward).

I'd actually prefer it was just cold or raining all day, it's the change that gets me. I left the house this morning and it was chilly and raining, now it's sunny and warming up!

That was exactly like my school pick up and drop off in England. No car, at the mercy of weather. Half an hour round trip twice a day plus extra minutes in waiting around or chatting.

Obviously check the weather every evening for the next day then on the morning itself. I don't wear sandals if it might rain or if its under 20c because im anemic and feel the cold in my toes.
I chucked all my polyester tops because they made me stink! So its tousers or jeans and a vest with a shirt or shirt and jumper or shirt and brolly or top and rain jacket. You could fold the raincoat and take it in a little shopper bag or get the ones that fold to nothing. Or a mini brolly if you can spare the hand. If you like hats they are actually very good in the rain specially that annoying drizzle.

ThePoshUns · 10/06/2025 10:45

This in between weather is so annoying. I’m either freezing or boiling hot.
in work I’m wearing wide leg linen trousers, short sleeve top, with WP coat to travel in.
at home jeans , t shirt and hoodie.
please can we just have a summer!

NeedyQuoter · 10/06/2025 10:45

If you have a garden go outside and stand for a minute then bear in mind that if you're walking you'll feel warmer. If your clothes are natural fibers, specially bamboo and linen then you won't be so uncomfortable to layer.

GoldDuster · 10/06/2025 10:47

Most days M and S carrot jeans, vest or cami top, oversized cardi with rolled up sleeves. Decent sized shopper with an waterproof/brolly depending on what it looks like doing. I've taken to wearing my Teva's so I don't care if they get rained on, I'm not going back into boots until the autumn, no matter what happens!

Barrel leg jeans or trousers- white or khaki or blue
Baby t - striped or white
New Balance putty coloured trainers with crew socks
Big shopper with Rains waterproof coat
Sometimes a cashmere jumper looped around shoulders in pale lemon

Dandeliontea123 · 10/06/2025 10:57

I don’t have a car either. Yesterday I was in a jersey maxi skirt, a polyester blouse over a thermal vest, a trench coat, thin tights, and white trainers. I also had a thin cotton cardigan on but I took it off as the sun came out. But when I got home I felt cold!
