Any hair colourists about? Help needed.

I had black box dye hair and wanted to go back light. I used a colour remover and then dyed it.

I bought a 'vivid copper' but its gone tangerine orange 🤣

I don't hate it!

I do like bright colours but obviously have 'hot roots' and its so much brighter at the top.

Any ideas on how i can tone it down overall?

Even a colour to go over it that will just bring it down a couple of notches?

PLEASE DO NOT SAY GO TO A SALON. I won't in any circumstances!

Not a hairdresser but honestly it looks great and will wash out quickly as it is, I’d leave it and enjoy it while it lasts!

KeebabSpider · 04/06/2025 17:47

No idea what you can do, but I love the colour, it looks fab.

BilliBean · 04/06/2025 17:48

We do have hair shops locally that sell professional dye tubes and i have 10% developer.

Or I was considering just putting a red all over as a last resort?

It doesn’t look too ‘hot rooty’ and misses point of thread what colour remover did you use? It’s done a fab job!

GivingUpFinally · 04/06/2025 17:54

10% developer is far too high! 10 vol 3% to deposit colour. 20 vol or 6% for permanent and grey coverage.

I'll say it definitely is vibrant.

Your best bet is to use a vegetable dye, semi over the top. Like manic panic for example. No peroxide needed but it does fade and leech cokoir when washing and don't use white towels or bedding.

You could get a bright copper and then mix of touch charcoal semi unto it to tone it done and give it a smoky look.

Otherwise go to the salon, really. Dealing with vibrants is difficult for professionals diying it....Good luck

Another one to say it's fantastic. Red fades super quick so enjoy it.

Sorry I meant 10 vol (3%) not 10%

I like it as it is 🤷‍♀️ I think it looks well done!
i would enjoy it as it is, before it fades and then put something more red toned on when needed next. (I’m not a hair dresser though!)

kissmyfatass · 04/06/2025 18:15

I love it

MightyGoldBear · 04/06/2025 18:43

C080889 · 04/06/2025 19:09

Definitely keep it, it looks amazing! Wow 😍

Hallywally · 04/06/2025 20:05

Just wash it a lot. Bright colours fade really quickly. I have my hair bleached & brightly coloured & only wash once a week to prolong the colour. Even then they don’t last ages.

EggnogNoggin · 04/06/2025 20:31

People pay hundreds for this!

I thought this was going to be an inspiration post for how you wanted it to look. 🔥🔥🔥

Sasha07 · 04/06/2025 20:35

Yeah, just adding to the voices here, it does look great! 😍

Wigtopia · 04/06/2025 20:36

I love it

BilliBean · 04/06/2025 22:28

OK, youve all convinced me. I will get another couple of boxes of this and do the bottom haf as its a bit patchy, i thought another colour would cover it but if I'm sticking with this I will have to do it more throughly.

I will avoid the top of my hair!
