What does purple shampoo do?

Hi all, my teenage Dd got blonde highlights at the weekend. They’re more blonde than white (maybe even the slightest green tinge). She’s going back to the hairdressers next week but what’s the best shampoo/conditioner for her to use in the meantime?

I’ve goggled and lots has come up about purple shampoo but this is to make it “less brassy”. I’ve had dark hair my whole life so this is all new to me! Will it make the blonde whiter (ie take away any yellow-blonde - there’s not much of this as it is!)

TIA

It corrects the yellow tones yes but overuse of it and it does start looking lilac so occasional use, not every shampoo.

It neutralises yellow tones to make it less brassy
If there're green tones in her hair then a pink or red shampoo can neutralise them. I've heard of using tomato ketchup to help with green tones too!

I think that’s maybe the opposite than what I want is it? It’s too white-blonde as it is rather than too yellow?

What do you want to happen to the hair? Purple shampoo as has been said neutralisers yellow. If it's too cold and ashy maybe a honey blonde toner? I would ask the hairdresser what they suggest

I use the Davines copper conditioner on my hair which is brown with copper balayage.
BUT I also used it on my daughter who is blonde and it made her hair more golden or even strawberry blonde, so I think this might work for you. It's expensive but good and you need to leave it on for about 10-15 min.

Ideally for the highlights to be less white/green.
i thought of a toner but she’s going to hairdressers next week. In the meantime she just needs to wash it and doesn’t want it to get any worse?

I would just use a clarifying shampoo in that case

One of my kids uses purple shampoo when they want to freshen their hair back to a silver white colour, so maybe it’s for that?

I would just use a colour care shampoo and conditioner until she goes back to the hairdresser then
