Running leggings with zip pocket?

Harrumphhhh · 26/05/2025 21:28

I’m not sure if this is strictly style or beauty, but I wasn’t sure where else to put it!

I’ve always loved Sweaty Betty Power leggings and use them for the gym and running. I’ve just got two new pairs though - and discovered they no longer have the zip pocket on the waistband. This renders them pretty much useless as I need somewhere to put my house key when I run.

Can anyone recommend a pair of flattering leggings (not see through!) with a zip pocket?

Thank you!

The M&S ones do, they are very thick material too

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/05/2025 21:30

WHAT? That’s the main reason to buy them. Even the zeros g ones?

Defiantly41 · 26/05/2025 21:34

Ronhill. Currently lots on sale at John Lewis, great leggings too, stay up well and wash and wear really well, I’ve had mine years

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

Lucy Locket Loves actives have the waistband zip and they’re squat proof. Smile

Another vote for m and s good move.

I know, right? I can just imagine someone thinking ‘we can save money by not putting the zip in’ but that’s literally why we buy them! I’m not sure about zero gravities. I know they’re the ones designed for running, but I’ve always preferred Powers.

Whaaat??!! Disaster 😀What are they thinking of?

My recent zero gravities, new via Vinted had back zips.

Llama leisure activewear have two side pockets and a back zip pocket. I don't find them as sleek a fit as my SB Powers (may be quite individual anyway) but they are sturdy, squat proof etc etc, do the job fine.

The website says they still have a back zip pocket! That’s weird - if the ones you bought say the same ( I just clicked on the full length Powers in black) then I’d send them back.
I use that pocket all the time too, much safer for keys than the side leg ones.

Running leggings with zip pocket?

That zip has given me bruises before from the pull-bit digging in during yoga, Pilates or other floor work…ouch. I don’t run outdoors in them though, I don’t think I’ve ever used the zip pocket. Can you use some kind of body pouch? Someone must have invented a sleek discrete pouch for running that lies flat and doesn’t jiggle. Couldn’t give up my SB Powers!

Interesting! These were off vinted. I wonder if they were seconds, or if SB temporarily removed them, then realised it was a Terrible Idea.

I’m checking out the other recommendations now. Thank you!

The M&S ones zip pocket & thigh pockets . Around £30 & way superior to higher end brands in my opinion . I have pairs washed 2-3 times weekly since 2020 still wearable & keeping shape .

I’ve bought powers off Vinted and they are fakes. Way to thin material, no zip and a bit shiny.

i repotted the seller and got a refund.

Another vote for Llama. I don't get the pocket versions myself, but I love the fabric and range of designs.

Onelifeonly · 26/05/2025 23:11

I have 3 pairs, all with waistband zip pockets - 2 US PRO and 1 Nike. Had them for a few years though. The Nike ones are the most comfortable.

Mudlickets · 26/05/2025 23:15

I would assume they are fakes rather then the zip was taken away and returned. I'd raise a claim.

Mudlickets · 26/05/2025 23:16

Just buy the real ones in the sale if you like them.

SchoolNightWine · 26/05/2025 23:19

Lidl have some in now for £5.39! Zip pocket is on the thigh next to a phone pocket. Material is decent thickness and they feel really nice on. Full length and cropped ones available.

Yellowshirt · 26/05/2025 23:34

I've recently bought a running bag from Aldi and it's been absolutely brilliant. It just about fits my phone in so its not to big.

I've never got on with the arm bands most people use for their phones as I can never stop the phone moving so this has been brilliant for me.

UnnTheDeepMinded · 27/05/2025 09:03

Did you buy a pre-loved pair of Power high waisted? They have two thigh pockets but no zip pocket and no drawstring waist. The standard Powers have one thigh pocket and one zip waist pocket (and a drawstring waist ☺️)

Decisionsdecisions1 · 27/05/2025 12:40

Decathalon - both Kiprun and Kalenji brands have zip pockets. Have been using for years, wash well, durable and not expensive.

Also used M&S for winter as material thicker but I find it has to be cold weather and not quite as comfy for me as Kalenji.

Sweaty Betty I just don’t find comfy for running.

MsMartini · 27/05/2025 16:53

Mmm. I've just received a pair of Zero Gravity in very good condition via Vinted and they don't have side pockets which all my others have had. The listing didn't mention side pockets but I did check the SB website and all ZG ones are listed with side pockets (and all my previous ones have had side pockets), so I have queried with the seller in case not genuine.....

Londonmummy66 · 27/05/2025 16:59

I bought a couple of pairs of zero gs recently and they both had the back zip pocket in. As you bought from vinted presumably you cant send back in which case a running buddy pouch would be worth investing in. I have the small one which is a great size for a credit card, key and some salt tablets for longer runs and clips to my back waistband. Its so useful I often take it elsewhere if I'm not taking a bag and don't have pockets.

HolyMacaroniBatman · 27/05/2025 17:25

Some of the old Power leggings didn’t have a zip pocket and the original Zero Gravities didn’t have a side pocket. Worth checking in case they’ve been sat in the back of someone’s wardrobe for years. There are also some terrible fakes out there as well.
