Summer Awards Evening

Help. I’m looking for inspiration for an outfit for an awards evening with a formal dinner/dance format. My current dressy dresses are too wintery or too weddingy and I’m a bit stuck.

Can you all help with the sort of look to aim for? Ideally something that I could wear later in the year to an evening wedding.

I’m 5”2 and size 12. Would wear a dress or wide legged trousers/jumpsuit. I’m in my 50’s and don’t love my upper arms, so spagetti straps are a no but I prefer sleeveless shift style dresses to short sleeves. I also don’t like high or fussy necklines and don’t want anything too milkmaidy.

Budget wise, I’d aim for around £100, but would consider more if I’m likely to wear in future.

Mmm so I love the colour of the first one, but prefer the shape of the neck on the second. Grin I’m probably being fussy, but I don’t have the figure to go short and wide. Will look at bit more at both these sites.

You can be fussy! 😂 And now I've looked at the neck on the first one I can see it could be one of those annoying necks that don't manage to sit right.

Having been to a couple of awards ceremonies recently, I'd say long is definitely more common than short. You could wear block heels/platforms to give you height if you're concerned about tripping on a long hem.

Sorry, trying to share a vinted link but mn won't let me!

Oh that is interesting. And helpful. I had been avoiding long dresses, thinking they might be a bit much, so I might need to adjust my thinking. Thank you.

Love this one - and would be something I’d wear again, so another plus.
