Unwanted makeup

Peonymummy · 19/05/2025 19:02

I have so much makeup from high end brands that have accumulated over the last year or so (boxes and boxes of them, I just loved trying out new makeup). I find myself not wearing much or sticking to one or two brands only now. I'm looking to declutter a lot of items in the home. The issue is I have used them at least once but otherwise they're almost new and I don't think charity shops or vinted would accept them. Anywhere I could give away the items as I feel so bad throwing them away. Any advice is appreciated. X

When decluttering we sometimes put a box out on our drive with a sign to take things for free. I've found this a good way to get rid of lightly used cosmetics.

Vinted do accept if used... on most things.

Not on make up or cosmetics though

HouseAshamed · 19/05/2025 19:33

Offer them on Freecycle or Freegle, or ask a charity shop if they could use them.
Put the box in the Ladies at work.
If your local supermarket or pharmacist has a recycling box, put them in there.

Vinted don't allow used cosmetics or skincare. Some people list used items anyway but I wouldn't risk it.

nothouseproud · 19/05/2025 20:13

I've put stuff out in the staff kitchen with a note to help yourself and my name. I think ebay allows used bottles of stuff.

Maybe contact a women’s refuge to see if they’d be interested?

MissPrismsMistake · 20/05/2025 05:40

Repeating from another thread:

Womens’ refuges do not take used cosmetics.

A refuge is not a dustbin.

OliviaBonas · 20/05/2025 05:43

You can list them on Olio app.

I've bought face powder from there .. that's been used.🤷‍♀️

It must have been listed as new. When you post something for sale in the make up category, that's literally the only option available under "condition"
As a PP said people probably do post used cosmetics but it's not permitted.

lighttheworldagain · 20/05/2025 08:45

I know someone who said she drops cosmetics etc off at a women’s refuge.

Soozikinzii · 20/05/2025 08:49

I sold some laura geller stuff with the brush on ebay that had just been tried once . Maybe because the brush was with it that was ok . Didn't get much for it but helpful to declutter .

NigellaWannabe1 · 20/05/2025 09:43

Vinted / EBay / Depop definitely accept them. I’ve bought some that way myself, and good brands attract reasonable prices.

CubanTody · 20/05/2025 11:17

Vinted really don't. People sell them anyway but you're not supposed to.

There's a collection place at our Tesco, a big Maybelline poster but they take all brands.

I think Boots do something similar

NTmumAutisticteenagemeltdowns · 20/05/2025 18:13

Freecycle is perfect for this, particularly items with a pump or that someone can wipe a fresh surface (eg lipstick).
Items I've posted have gone quickly and been gratefully received, particularly if posted as a bundle.

TotemPolly · 20/05/2025 18:17

Have you got friends that would appreciate them ? I have sensitive skin and don't know if a brand suits it until I've tried it a few times .
My friends are very happy when it doesn't !😀

There are groups on facebook where you can sell lightly used stuff - Skincare Freaks Trade and Buy Group is one
