What are your perfect jeans?

I am on a mission to find a perfect (for me) pair of jeans. I know everyone will have their own criteria as to what makes a pair perfect for them and am just interested to know what brands/style etc, others class as being perfect for them and why..!

Citizens of humanity. Such soft comfy denim.

Longhotsummers · 18/05/2025 22:27

I’ve just bought Uniqlos drapey jeans and they are so flattering. That fabric is soft and really drapey so is comfortable to wear. They do them in four colours.

Huge fan of the Sainsburys barrel leg that I first heard about on here. 5 years after having DS I have finally found a pair of jeans that are comfortable and fit. 🎉

River island balloon. Went to try them on to scratch an itch, expecting them to be awful, and they look amazing!

M&S and Zara - hate Levi’s, they just don’t suit my shape.

Floisme · 19/05/2025 07:13

I have no loyalty whatsoever to any particular brand of jeans but I currently have 3 that I’m wearing constantly:

  1. Some Levi flares from 20+ years ago that currently (and probably not for long) fit perfectly again due to recent health drama, so I’m making the most of it.
  2. Uniqlo U wide legs.
  3. Jil Sander for Uniqlo straight legs (still wish I’d bought multiple pairs)
Edited as I forgot to say why: Levii flares - I just love the shape at the moment. I got them out to try a few years ago but they still looked a bit incongruous (and we’re a bit snug) but now they’re perfect. Uniqlo U wide legs - the shape, the fit and the sturdy denim. Jil Sander for Uniqlo - very clever cut, slim in the leg but relaxed on the thigh

Very boyfriend jeans. I’m chunky and they have an elasticated waist which suits my menopausal bloating.

BobnLen · 19/05/2025 07:29

Levi's 90s 501 and normal women's 501, they fit me perfectly, I buy them on offer though as they are £100 or more, have paid £40-£50 on Amazon and Next clearance.

100% cotton rigid denim straight leg, mid to high waist, and crucially must hit the top of my shoes (no ankle length). Recently Fatface Sutton straight have met this criteria and I have bought multiples off Vinted.

BobnLen · 19/05/2025 07:37

I also like Fatface Elise Jeans. I'm 5'10", size 14 so am also limited to styles that do a longer leg.

ISeeTrees · 19/05/2025 07:41

I'm still in skinnies- keep trying other cuts and just not a fan yet.
My favourites are a pair of black Tocada jeans that were a gift (I think you can buy online).
I love them because they've kept their solid black colour despite wearing and washing, they've held their shape (no baggy knees) and they're truly stretchy rather than "sculpting" or whatever so kind on my tummy when it bloats!

Britpopbaby · 19/05/2025 08:13

At the moment it is M&S palazzo jeans. They are light and perfect for spring/ summer and help me chanel the Chloe girl vibe when paired with a nice boho style blouse.

felldown · 19/05/2025 08:18

It really depends on your body shape. I was surprised how flattering balloon and barrel style jeans were on my curvy hips. I like M&S jeans, previously I liked topshop.

Too late to edit my post, wanted to add flattering on curvy hips and chunky thighs

BemusedBrenda · 19/05/2025 08:42

I'm also very interested to know whuch jean styles are working for people!

I have two pairs of M&S palazzo jeans which I absolutely love, but they're not very practical for e.g. wet days or cycling so I'd love to find another style that really works. I have two very old pairs, one skinny and one boot cut, both of which feel a bit dated to me somehow now? But I'm not sure what else to try. I'm tall with 39in hips and 29in waist. I often find jeans are too big on the waist or too tight across the top of the thighs.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 19/05/2025 08:48

I always liked Levi’s 501s but last time I tried them they were tight on my belly and baggy on the legs, so the assistant brought me high-waisted straights (don’t know what number they are, sorry). They have a bit of stretch which I don’t normally like as it goes baggy on the knees but these don’t seem to. Really comfortable and flattering for me.
They do them in a dark indigo as well which suits me as the faded ones make me look unkempt.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 19/05/2025 08:51

I’ve also recently boughg some off-white wide (ish) legged ones from Cos and Nobody’s Child which I like; no camel toe!

Princessfluffy · 19/05/2025 08:55

I like 100% cotton jeans, no stretch. My faves are Nobody’s Child wide leg high rise and Free People barrel legs.

ThirdStorm · 19/05/2025 08:58

M&S "Sophia" are my favourites, sadly I don't think they make them anymore.

willowstar · 19/05/2025 09:12

Depends on the vibe/occasion.

Levi's 90s 501s rolled up a bit with graphic tee shirts and stacked trainers.

Levi's high waisted bootcuts look great with my platform converse or knee high platform DMs

Levi's ribcage bells. Just a gorgeous cut on me with a belt. Can wear with shirts or jumpers tucked in or leave out.

I lost a lot of weight last year and walking in to a Levi's store and buying jeans was a very big moment for me.

Oh also their XL looks good too.

Non Levi's...the M&S Palazzo are great.
