Weightloss & turkey neck

I'm in my early 40s, have lost 4.5 stone so far with another 6 stone to go before I'm in the middle of my healthy BMI bracket.

Lots of positive things about weight loss of course, but I'm all too aware I'll end up with loose skin after a 10+ stone loss in the end but I'll worry about that closer to the time. Nothing will prevent it now!

Right now, the only thing bothering me is my fecking collapsing turkey neck. It's a wrinkly patch of skin under my chin, on my double chin (which is much smaller now).

It's very new, I've never looked like this before and it's bothering me.

Anyone managed to deal with this? Or is it surgery for this in the end too?

Photo attached, will take MN a few mins to upload I guess.

I've done a thread on these.
They are all over the Internet.
I thought it was all hype.. until Sara Davies used it.
It's really helped mine after loosing 4 stone .
Got mine from Ebay
There is a few different ones.
Buy a 7 light LED one. Use with vitamin C serum.

Congratulations on your loss! I've read that it can take skin up to about a year to adapt to weightloss, so if there is loose skin its worth not rushing into booking surgery straight away. Creams and LED face and neck masks sound like a good intermediary step. I didn't like it but have heard good things about Prai neck cream, you can get a small one on amazon to try it out.

I agree with PP, you have to give it about a year after you've lost the weight to see how much the skin will tighten up.
Also congrats on your weight loss!
(I lost over 7 st and my neck was distinctly 'wattley' afterwards but a yr later it has def improved to the point I barely notice it).

I noticed the same on myself just last week after weight loss. I'm equally unimpressed with mine. I am holding out for the skin tightening up at present. I feel your pain!

I started wearing a jaunty little scarf! and I quite liek that style

Overtheatlantic · 08/03/2026 02:13

I tried a jaunty scarf and my neck wrinkles dug themselves out the top of it. Determined feckers.

LucyLoo1972 · 08/03/2026 02:30

mine is much worse than yours OP. I lost 5 stone and on most of my body there is very little loose skin at all. only my arms are very flabby

HellybellyMelly · 08/03/2026 02:37

My friend recently had fillers to combat this

faeriesandelves · 08/03/2026 07:50

I just had Botox in my neck and jawline last month to combat this. I’m so pleased with the results. Ive lost 3.5 stone. Photo coming but only from the side. Had the same look as you before Botox. I’m nearly 60.

@faeriesandelves that looks great! Thanks for posting those photos.
I have exactly the same issue and might consider this.
Can I ask what the cost was please?

It was £160 as it counted as one area of Botox so good value I thought especially considering the results. It helped with my jowls too.

Well done on your weight loss. Red light therapy tools and creams have defo helped me a bit. I’ve tried a few different creams and neck yoga type exercises - currently using the Trinny London elevator cream and quite like that one.

I tried the Trinny Elevator cream. It is very expensive and whilst I felt it softened my skin I can’t spend that much for just that result.
Having finished my pot of Elevator I now use Nivea q10 instead which is about quarter of the price and the results seem exactly the same.

I'm 45 and I've also lost 5 stone, 5 to go and ChatGPT recently told me my neck & jawline looked good for my age. The only thing I've been doing is consistently using a neck cream every night since I started losing the weight. I've actually tried several (Trinny Elevator, This Works, Elemis & Prai) but I think the most important thing is using one consistently and applying it in upwards strokes, smoothing out along your jawline. If you look up videos on how to use a gua sha you'll get the idea - but I don't think the actual gua sha is necessary, just the massaging action.

If you want to try out neck creams you can get trial sized versions either directly or from Vinted/ebay so you can decide what you prefer - they all have different fragrances and textures. My favourite is the Elevator but it is expensive.

Did you ask ChatGPT to assess your face? I’m very curious about this as I’m considering Botox after weight loss.

Was that question to me? I was just curious how old I looked, so I showed ChatGPT and asked it to guess. It told me early to mid 40s. I tried another photo and it said 'ah well in this one you're smiling and the lighting is better so of course you look younger, now I'd say you're mid to late 40s'. So I wouldn't put much faith in it. But it offered to list a load of reasons why I don't look in my 50s and overall I found the whole thing quite interesting, it reassured me on a few things.

Thank you!
