Platform trainers?

Are platform trainers in style still? I need them to be able to wear a maxi skirt to the right length but I also only buy trainers every 5 years or so. Will they be seen as a fashion crime by August?

Why not just get the skirt shortened?

If you’re planning to keep new trainers for five years you probably want them to be versatile, so I’d consider that, rather than one skirt.

Because it's not one skirt it's all skirts, dresses, bootcut or wide trousers. If I buy short they're too short so I have to buy regular which are about an inch too long, drag on the floor and look awful after a few wears.

I'm also not sure the budget I spend on clothes would warrant spending more on getting them altered.
