Just received my first prescription of Dermatica. What has been people experience? How should I use it? Haven’t opened it yet.

Getting a bit concerned after reading previous messages regarding bad reactions to Tretinion.

I’ve just posted this as a reply to your comment on the other thread but putting it here too for you:

Plenty of people use it with no problem and have excellent results. (Obviously not discounting the experiences of people on this thread). Like everything, it’s individual as to how you will react. The best thing you can do is to build up slowly and use very gently skincare and no other actives until you see how you get on.
I would start by sandwiching it - moisturise, wait 30 mins, apply the Tret, let sink in and then moisturise again. And only use about twice a week at most in the beginning. It can cause purging at first, and that usually takes the form of acne but it doesn’t always happen (didn’t for me).
It can also cause dryness in the beginning but it usually passes quickly. I use the Avene Cicalfate+ as an everyday moisturiser now and don’t get any dryness or peeling, even when increasing dose, which I’ve done recently. I’ve been on it for about 5 years and was on the lowest dose of 0.015% for most of that, then this time last year ish I increased to 0.025% and then recently up to 0.05%. I use it primarily for acne and it’s been a game changer for me after suffering for nearly 30 years. Obviously I have the added bonus of the anti ageing effects too.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I will give it a try. I believe I have to be serious about the suntan lotion and drinking lots of water

Yes, definitely to the SPF. I use Altruist face fluid SPF50 or their moisturising fluid SPF50 under makeup. I don’t worry too much about water intake but I do generally drink plenty. I’d just see how you go with your normal intake first and increase if you feel you need to.

Thank you. I have started it. How long will it last if I use it 2 days per week? Can I change my subscription to every 6 to 8 weeks?
