Managing Zips independently

I’ve just got a Uniqlo jumpsuit in the sale and I really like it. The only problem is that it has a long zip that reaches way down to my lower back - and to pull it down (to sit on the loo) requires it to be unzipped completely and then zipped back up. I can’t for the life of me work out how to do this independently - are there any tips, tricks or magic tech I could use? The material is a bit unyielding with no stretch so I can’t just wriggle out of it

Carry a piece of string that you can feed through the zip 'handle' (dont know the actual word for it) and use that to pull it up and down? Is the only thing I can think to do. Or only wear it when you're with someone who is happy to do this for you 😅

Can you tie a ribbon through the zip?

Britpopbaby · 15/05/2025 19:24

I used one of those thin ribbons added to clothes to keep them on the hanger and threaded it through the zip and tuck it in to my dress so you can’t see it.

Someone said use a metal coat hanger but mine are too thick to fit through my zippers. I was thinking thick thread. Or perhaps an old bracelet I could clip one end into the zip and pull by the other end (old so that if it breaks i won’t cry)!

You need a zip puller- mine is a long chain with a hook on it that you just pop through the zip pull and then it’s super easy to pull down and up. Lots on Amazon, just check the reviews as some are v flimsy

Isn't it ridiculous that clothes makers do this! Why, oh why?
