One stinky armpit…

Anyone had this before?! For some reason, one of armpits has been smelling for the last few weeks. I’ve tried washing with different cleansers, using glycolic acid and a whole range of deodorants including men’s yet it’s still unpleasant, very quickly after cleaning. I’m guessing it’s hormonal? I’m very, very run down so that might also be it. But in the short term, what can I do to stop this? I can’t get Botox before anyone suggests that! But I’m worried it’s going to ruin my clothes.

I have one armpit that’s sweatier and more prone to smell than the other, and yes, it’s so strange! To avoid the smell you need to be washing gently, patting dry then use talc before the deodorant. Use a stick not spray or roll on. And the most important thing: wear a clean laundered top every day. Don’t wear anything twice because the smell can be on the clothes. You can use a specially formulated sports detergent to help neutralise odours. Also natural materials are better than synthetic.

Yes !!!! My left one is often far worse than the right. I've resorted to shaving more to get rid of the top layer of skin ! And then use dove soild stick which is an improvement but jeez the meat and potato pie smell one day this week was horrible
I'm
Unwell currently so maybe it's that plus hormones

Use antibacterial hand gel on it. You might only need to do one wipe-worth. You've probably got one blocked pore that's fermenting away and the hand gel will kill it off.

Yes, always my right one! I use glycolic acid too and Mitchum anti-persp stick but it’s still not great. Annoying isnt it! I wash well and shave etc. I am in 40’s and quite hormonal.

Will try the anti-bac gel idea!

Body scrub on pits occasionally

flannel to scrub with normal soap ie not dove soap bar then solid mitchum deodorant.

My left one too - during peri/menopause. Better now!

I got really stinky armpits a while ago, weirdly smelling of onions, and thought it was menopause related, but a friend who is a consultant dermatologist said it was a bacterial infection.
She recommended some antibacterial lotion called Dermol 500 - easily available off the web. You can wash with it and rub it in after washing.

Also, don’t sit around in sweaty clothes and soak any that are getting a bit whiffy in a basin of water with a cup of vinegar mixed in before washing.
