Day festival in city park in the rain

I’ve never been to a festival - this one isn’t really a festival, no camping, just music etc for the day/evening. It’s walking distance from our home in a city park.

Forecast currently is rain - will I look like an idiot in shorts and wellies? What else would I even wear with wellies (it won’t be cold)? It’s not Glastonbury!

No idea what to wear - weather been so great down here I just thought it would be sunny. I have a pac a mac and no shame.

I think a lot of people will be wearing wellies! Let's hope it does not rain but if it does do not let that affect your enjoyment!!!

Wellies and shorts is fine.

Though I would think wet shorts would be quite cold unless it is baking hot weather. I’d wear leggings and put shorts in my bag in case too hot!

I do a lot of festivals, many of them in the rain! I've always found shorts to be better than any longer clothing, your legs dry off far quicker than any material.
If the rain stops, there's nothing worse than cold wet clothing sticking to you all over.

IMO wellies are only needed for serious mud. A city festival in a park won't really get seriously muddy. Proper mud is made from heavy rain combined with lots of footfall to churn the ground up. Unlikely that both these conditions will be met at a day event in a city park, and there may also be concrete paths in a park. So I'd say you don't necessarily need wellies if you'd rather wear different (reasonably practical) boots or walking trainers maybe.

Shorts are fine, but it can get colder than you expect in the evening when you're outside for a long time, so bring extra layers.
