Handkerchief hems?

I’m looking for a dress to wear as MOTB in a few weeks. The wedding is in Rhodes, it’s likely to be hot.

I haven’t tried any dresses yet, but some I’m drawn to have handkerchief hems. I like the thought that this would be good to conceal my legs, one with a scar and enlarged vein just below the knee. At 69 is it silly to wear a floaty hemline? I’m a size 14, 9st 7lbs, 5’4 so not tall enough for maxi dresses. Longish grey hair, which I may leave loose as I’m rubbish at putting it up. I can’t walk in heels so will need flat shoes. Would this work?

Might be better if upper arms are covered, but it’s more the length and hemline for now?

I don’t think you are too old for a handkerchief hemline. I like it.

However it can look a bit casual. Depending on the venue (eg a beach wedding) that could be perfect. The material of your dress or outfit will matter. Silk would be a wonderful choice, and breathable. Linen is coolest but will wrinkle as soon as you look at it. Linen and cotton will look more casual than silk but be a bit cooler.

Shoes will also matter. Can you wear a platform? That would look dressier than a flat.

Of course a great piece of jewellery and a good bag will also go a long way to dressing up your outfit, if that is the goal.
