2nd hand Manolos - am I mad??

I’ve just impulse purchased second hand Manolo BB pumps off eBay. No research, they’re unboxed, and the courier is chuffing Evri.

Will they arrive?
Will they be terrible?
Or will I have a new pair of perfect pub after work shoes?

Ebay is so dodgy for designer stuff. The fact that they’re worn would make me more inclined to hope they’re genuine though.
It’s a bit of a gamble , hopefully you didn’t pay more than you’re willing to lose.
I like vestiare, they authenticate before sending the items.

Gettingbysomehow · 13/05/2025 17:03

Let's hope you get lucky. I bought a statue off their purportedly from a famous artist. It was a copy of an original. The sellers then disappeared off Ebay and the planet. Let us know.

I got my second hand Manolos from Vinted and I stare at them lovingly every day and I'm wearing them for my wedding 😁

wintersgold · 13/05/2025 20:22

If they have third party authentication you're probably fine.

TakeMeToKernow · 16/05/2025 15:38

Tiny update: they’re out for delivery with Evri 😬
Will it just be a box of bricks?
Will Evri toss it into a hedge?

Give it a couple more working days…

Someone mentioned authentication. My purchasing them went like this:
*I was commuting to work, and I wondered how much second hand manolos might be, as I’d read an article a few months ago about how comfortable they were
*while walking from my car to my office, I found a pair I liked on Vinted, but the seller hadn’t been on line for 5 months, so I didn’t bother
*while in the loos in my office, I checked eBay to discover the same seller and same shoes
*2.5 hours of work meetings happened
*I mentioned to some colleagues over a cup of tea that my other half was encouraging us to spend savings on some house upgrades, but really, I fancied a pair of shoes
*they all said “buy the shoes”
*I bought the shoes

So about 4.5 hours from first inclination to purchase and about 30 minutes of research, mostly while walking. And no authentication.

I’m not usually so rash! I think it was the heat. And my general annoyance at house upgrade things.

Excited for you .
let us know when they arrive

Is it just me that finds the idea of second hand shoes a bit weird? Like the shoes if worn will probably have moulded themselves to someone else's foot shape, my foot shape is not their foot shape, gait and weight distribution is different etc etc. Its not the same as clothes second hand that hang off the body imo, you actually rely on shoes to protect your feet.
Or am I just weird about it because I don't like feet? 🤔

MySweetGeorgina · 17/05/2025 07:12

Fingers crossed OP 😁

Lemonyfuckit · 17/05/2025 08:06

I’m intrigued to know whether they turned up and you like them (I hope so!) and how much they cost.

Re. the comfort thing, I have a pair of second hand Manolos that my DH spotted in a charity shop, and I have to say for stilettos they are very comfortable! (Obviously caveated as they’re still stilettos….). Unlike the Laboutins that much much much younger me saved up for and rather foolishly bought (new) - they are hideously uncomfortable, and I think just the wrong shape for feet, they seem to be the same width at the fronts and the back so they squish my toes and heels are completely lose.

TakeMeToKernow · 19/05/2025 21:39

They’re here! A waltz round my house later, I can confirm they’re really quite comfy and super easy to walk in (they’re not a particularly big heel). Narrow on me across the toes, but that’s every pair of shoes ever, I’m sure they’ll soften. They’ve hardly been worn. Not a clue if they’re real or not, but at £113.34 inc delivery, I was happy enough to take the punt.

As a previous PP mentioned, I am relieved to report there is no obvious sign of them moulding to someone else’s foot 😅

I think you've bought fakes. The inners and that heel look lesser quality than real ones.

Ouvavuuu · 20/05/2025 05:11

They’re not fake

LaurieFairyCake · 20/05/2025 06:43

Not fake, I have a pair I bought from the shop and inner looks the same

great bargain, they’re going to last til your dead as they’re classics

Second hand shoes 🤢

I find it weird when people are trying to sell them but show them on their knarly feet, it really gives me the ick. Like I don't want to see what they look like on someone else's foot.

KateBushAgain · 20/05/2025 07:57

They’re fabulous OP
health to wear 🥳

Chewbecca · 20/05/2025 08:02

I think the only second hand shoes that are ok are ones exactly like this - a designer splurge that have been very lightly worn. I got a pair of Jimmy Choos for my 40th (over 10 years ago!) & have worn them just twice!

Glad your shoes arrived as expected OP, they look good, hope you love wearing them.

I'm not very impressed with that glue showing up on the insoles. That's usually what gives away the fakes.
