Terrible photos - it's really hard to assess the dress!

pimplebum · 13/05/2025 14:14

Simple
I’d want to remove the embroidery to up date it otherwise tad dated

sonoonetoldyoulifewasgonnabethisway · 13/05/2025 14:20

I am going to try and ask them for better photos, I just thought I liked the shape from the one hanging from a window. And the bolero, I have tattoos I would like to hide throughout the ceremony when elderly family are there, I can take it off during the evening and the wedding is in October.

It’s perfectly nice - but it all depends on whether it fits you OP and that’s hard to know until you’ve bought it!

Do you have budget to get it adjusted if it doesn’t fit well? It would need to be a bit big rather than a bit small of course for this to work.

sonoonetoldyoulifewasgonnabethisway · 13/05/2025 14:29

My friend is a seamstress who used to work in a wedding shop and she is really good, she said she would be happy to adjust anything I find, this is at the top of my budget but wanted something a bit more traditional/vintage. I am a small 10.

I wouldn’t say that is classic or vintage, just dated

Notyourfaultbutmine · 13/05/2025 15:02

Really dated. Late 90's style, maybe early 2000s? I think it's the embroidery and the yellowy cream colour of the fabric.

spoonbillstretford · 13/05/2025 15:11

Have a look on Sue Ryder or other second hand bridal shops. You can get better dresses for similar or less.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 09/12/2025 08:42

This was posted in May. I wonder what dress OP went with in the end?

Who is lexilee? Is this another post that has been removed rather than showing ‘deleted my mn’?

Mynumberone · 09/12/2025 13:39

Very dated. My friend got married in the early 2000s and its very similar to her dress. I actually thought her dress was dated at the time.

Yes!! It was a thinly veiled ad post, like “why not check out XX company, my friend was super happy with the quality and style at q good price”. Not sure why it’s been completely deleted rather than a Deleted by Mumsnet post left in its place. Confusing.

I reported it MNHQ and they said spamming posts (which that one was) are actually removed otherwise we would be wading through ‘deleted by Mumsnet’ messages so there must be far more spam posts than the site shows
