SPF and skin routine

If you have a lovely skin, can you please tell me your skin routine? I just subscribed to Dermatica for Tretinion.

It also said you need to use SPF 30 or more every 2 hours; is this correct? Do you do it even if you are indoors? Use it on top of your makeup in the office?

I am 51 and have started noticing my skin more dry, dull, sagging. I am hoping Tretinion will make a difference. On top of lots of water, vitamins, face yoga and good sleep.

By lunch time I notice my skin very dry in the office, plus red eyes.

Do you use Tretinion around your eyes?

Trying to avoid niddles and surgeries.

I don’t reapply it every two hours as I sometimes wear makeup. However, I use Altruist SPF50 - either the moisturiser with SPF50 in when wearing makeup or their SPF50 face fluid when I don’t wear makeup and I’ve never had any issues and I’ve been using some sort of retinoid for over a decade. I also use them even when I’m not going out anywhere as they’re just like a moisturiser for me.

My skin’s lovely because I went to a dedicated facialist who knew how to layer the products. It’s a medical facial, not some Aveda spa situation. It’s a work out! And there’s a full blown regimen you stick to. (If you’re in London, happy to DM you her name)

on SPF, I’d do it every 4. I do a liquid SPF in the morning and then top up using a mineral SPF powder (look at Colorscience)

Thank you; yes, I am in London, please send me the details?

I feel like I need to apply more moisturiser or spf throughout the day as my skin gets very dry; but it is difficult if I am in the office and have make up on

Can’t even see how to DM on the app, but I guess it’s not outing and she deserves the good press: it’s No 8 Labs.

She was under Kate Kerr and then started her own business. She absolutely knows her onions and she is militant. She’s consistent and not into quick superficial fixes. She does so much groundwork that your skin takes on a life of its own - a WEEK before my wedding and I got three massive volcanos on my face. They reduced to NOTHING in time for photos!

It’s not cheap, but cheaper than a face lift! If you go, you’ll likely be put on Zein Obagi’s range. It is phenomenal.

I have lovely skin!

At night I double cleanse, first with normal cream cleanser on cotton wool and then with a face wash with salicylic acid. I will use a BHA toner then retinol serum. After that I either use Nivea cream or vaseline as my night cream.

Morning time, I cleanse with the cleanser. I always use damp cotton wool as it drags much less. Then I use Garnier Factor 50 SPF with Vitamin C. I then apply a generic moisturising cream, sometimes Nivea, sometimes Nuxe.

I always try to wait between layers for it to dry.
I use serum foundation.

I don't reapply during the day but I do wear a hat and stay out of the sun when it's very sunny.

That is great. Thank you. I thought the spf was after moisturiser

I had to stop using tretinion. It made me want to scratch the skin off my face! I have sensitive skin though so that’s probably why.

I don’t remember the 2 hr rule. But I always wear spf 50 every single day of the year. I think it’s helped keep the wrinkles at bay!
