What to wear for children's party at home / bbq

What would you wear for a bbq party to celebrate a child's birthday to be attended by family and friends? A dress? The classic jeans and a nice top? I'm hoping for a nice day but obviously there are no guarantees!

At these type of parties I generally see

Worn leggings and t-shirt - generally rocked by the mums with multiple young kids who are going to spend the day doing messy activities

Cropped jeans and plain t-shirt

Cropped jeans, high top converse and printed shirt

Flowery dress and white trainers

Plain dress and trainers
