Itchy scalp help?

I have long thick hair and it's prone to drying as i do dye it a lot so I try to use shampoos that don't strip the colour out too quickly, but recently I've had such an itchy scalp. I have been using herbal essences (love the smell) but my head just drives me crazy with it. I don't seem to have dandruff as far as I can tell its just super itchy.

Any recommendations for a shampoo/conditioner what helps with frizz and won't strip colour but that would be more soothing? Ideally I'd like it to smell nice but I understand that perfumes might be causing the issue!

Watching for recommendations! I'd used H&S for years after itchy scalp ten years ago, and suddenly my scalp just exploded again. I am currently using TGel but it's expensive and has only reduced, not eliminated the issue. I tried baby shampoo too but that made it worse again.

My hair dresser said to try a "cleansing shampoo" but I'm too nervous. I may try a tea tree or coal tar shampoo thus week if I can find one.

I cycle and horse ride twice a week so wear a hat a lot, don't dye my hair but do tend to wash it every other day.

Ps also very thick hair, although bobbed to jaw.

Rosemary oil once or twice a week overnight solved the itchy scalp problem for me.

I found that ‘ I need a hero’ shampoo from Percy and Read helped with my itchy scalp.
It’s not that cheap, but a little goes a long way and it stopped the itching.
( I bought mine from Amazon)

I find Moo Goo works well for me but it takes a while and is a bit expensive.

An SLS free shampoo worked amazing for me

I've been using this and funnily enough ran out a few weeks ago and now I wonder if that's been why it's been extra bad of late!

I was tempted to do head and shoulders but I find it fades colour really fast and I don't want to have to dye any more often for fear of irritating it more.

Depends why your head is itchy. Could it be a reaction to something in your current products as scents can cause irritations?

Have you recently had all illness or antibiotics as sometimes I need to do a course of using nizoral shampoo, clears up any itchiness from fungal overgrowth.

I like the aveeno range of shampoos, not irritating at all, sls free and they have a colour protect one.

I have super thick hair that is dry and wild if not treated properly. I use nothing but the ONYX shampoo and conditioner and make sure to use a leave in cream/oil/serum after washing. Only wash once a week and use the scalp scrubber while washing. My hair is so soft and smooth right now and my scalp eczema is much better.

I have had an itchy scalp all my life. The only thing that treats it is Nizoral shampoo (occasionally) and Eucerin calming urea shampoo (regularly) or Ginger Beer body shop shampoo. I also put the Eucerin Urea Cream on my scalp overnight if I'm going through a particularly bad time and it does seem to calm it. Everyone is different though and sometimes its just trial and error to see what works for you.

Just following up on this - I tried E45 shampoo as I saw it in pharmacy and Woo hoo! It works!!!

Head a shoulders for ITCHY scalp- make sure it's this one. Best conditioner I've found is Pantene smooth and sleek hair mask ,it's in a tub. This combination is fantastic for me and I get really itchy if I'm not careful.
