Looking for a winter coat

Hi all. I’m off to New York in January and am aware it’s likely to be quite chilly. I’d like to treat myself to a new coat. I’m 5 foot and a size 12 with a bit of a tummy. I don’t want anything too padded as I’ll look like the Michelin man (woman) 😂 I’d like it to be knee length ideally and with a hood. Not too fussed on colour but nothing garish like yellow or orange. Budget of up to £200.

Had anyone bought anything recently that might fit the bill? Thanks 🙏 ♥️

You might find more choices in the shops September time (start of winter), if you are in the UK that is.

If you can wait till you get NY clothing is so much cheaper than here. Also much wider range and in season there. Take what you have and make do till you can shop if you can.

I just ordered this, which I was eyeing up all winter but decided was too expensive. For a 100% wool coat that can even be washed, it seems like an absolute bargain and looks like it will be so warm:

That’s lovely, it’s looks really cosy.

It's a good time to find left over coats from sales! What about googling for brands you like? North Face has some odd associations, but it's warm, light, not Michelin-like, and you'll find one in your price range.

I’d use it as an excuse to buy a new coat in NY
