How to avoid getting warts?

So my kids have never had warts neither have I. I don’t want them to get them. How to prevent getting them?

You can’t avoid the wart virus unless you never touch people. Most people have the wart virus at some point and it sometimes presents as visible warts eg on fingers or soles of the feet and sometimes one isn’t aware of the wart.As they are essentially harmless ( even if a verruca can be uncomfortable) there is no real need to try to avoid. Obviously I am not counting HPV in that category for which there is now an effective preventative vaccine. What would your reasoning be?

I’ve heard warts will come back throughout your life once you have them once. I’m trying to spare my kids from having to deal with that.
