Dress to wear to my graduation in July!

I’m graduating from Uni this summer at the grand age of 45 and need something to wear for the ceremony. I’m currently an 18-20 carrying more weight in my hips and bum area. The gown will cover lots of me up, I suspect, but I want something that won’t make me look frumpy. I’m the oldest on the course by at least 15 years!

I can spend a bit of money on an outfit (maybe £250, a little more for something really great).

I’d really like something knee length or below, but not long long as it’s a lunchtime ceremony. Hood colour is green/ teal. Would like to stick to blues/greens as pinks and reds tend to make me look like a tomato. Happy for patterns / floral etc.

i usually wear stuff from seasalt / white stuff / joules and am quite casual. Bit stumped for what to get or where to look! Has anyone seen something that might fit the bill?

I’d be really careful on how low at the front because the hood can pull it down, the helpers at dsd were walking round with pins to prevent this particular wardrobe malfunction!

a seasalt dress would be absolutely fine btw, my 21 year old wore one to her graduation!

Ooh I really like the teal gather and see dress! wonder if the long sleeves will be too hot?

I had assumed that I would need something smarter than seasalt, but if that’s the kind of thing people are wearing I might have second look
