I have a tricky shape in that my hips and shoulders are similar widths and are both a decent size 10. My ribcage however is a really small XXS or size 6-8. Waist is same width as ribcage so it's small too.

Makes dressing hard as I like to have tight waisted things or i look big. I also recently had a boob job as they'd become very flat, but they've never been small........

So, I have one blouse i love from By Iris. Broderie Anglasie and most importantly, very fitted thru waist and chest. I cannot find more? This was actually from tk maxx.

Can I take it to a dressmaker for her to make a few the same? If so, who do I look for/ what type of person?

Has anyone done this before? Is it stupid expensive??

You could do that. But I suspect it would be much more cost effective to buy tops you like, that fit your hip measurement, and have them altered to fit your rib cage and waist. That would be much cheaper, and you wouldn’t have to go to the trouble of sourcing fabric (which can be expensive). You would also avoid the likelihood of paying to have potentially going out of fashion clothes expensively copied.

It shouldn’t be hard to find a choice of alterations services in your nearest substantial town. Interrogate their websites first for reviews and examples of their work, then go and have a look at the place and speak to them - (websites can disguise grotty premises or people you wouldn’t trust with your clothes!). They should have decent cubicles, and large mirrors. If the service seems suspiciously cheap it’s probably not the right place.

Thank you.....

I don't find anything even approaching suitable in the shops really - so many things are made like a big bag, sometimes with elasticated bit. So basic.

This is the top I love. It's made in India 100% cotton. I'm sure the person got paid 4p for making it, obviously don't advocate that.

I'd be happy to pay £150 ish per item made for me..... wonder if thst would be ok

Well you’d have to pay whatever the dressmaker charged! 😄 (And the lining to give structure would add to the difficulty.) Of course you can have it copied - but without knowing the area you live in no one here can make specific recommendations.

It’s a nice top but I’m surprised you can’t find anything in the shops.

are three places I can think of that do some fairly fitted, good quality tops.

Thanks, they are semi fitted at most.....many are just loose ones tucked in for photos.

One at Doen looks possible, but at nearly £300 plus the money needed to alter.... I think I'd rather find someone to make bespoke.

I wasn't wanting specific recs more - oh you need a shirtmakern or tailor or dressmaker......I'm going to call a local tailor next week.

Of course I'd pay what I was asked, but the point was I wouldn't place an order it it was significantly over £150.... although might increase this a bit based on the cost of those ready to wear!
