My mid 20s daughter is starting a new job and we want to help her get a capsule wardrobe . She’s 6ft size 10 but finds it impossible to find skirts long enough as she’s all leg . Where should l take her where a stylist can help her with a work wardrobe and work to party wardrobe . Zero idea where to start happy to go to London . HELP

It’s worth considering the dress code of her workplace. I work in a corporate company and post pandemic everyone is dressed casually. No suits/ties, just smart casual (jumper/jeans; top/skirt). No one has outfits that are for “work”. No one has “work to party” outfits (but I’m in London where people don’t dress up). Few places are still formal. What is her workplace like?

I’d also recommend maybe getting one/two pieces that can be worn with existing attire if possible and developing the wardrobe over time to avoid investing a lot of money in something that she may later not like or realise doesn’t fit in.

Type in work wardrobe etc into Pinterest, what appeals to her? Is there a TV/film character that dresses a way she likes?

John Lewis has free personal stylist sessions. It’s a bit hit and miss though depending on the stylist. But you won’t lose money on it and there’s no pressure to buy something you don’t like.

I agree with no need for a traditional corporate wardrobe - having said that I’d probably invest in a really good black trouser suit which can be worn separately and then as and when she ever needs to be ‘suited and booted’ she can be. An alternative to John Lewis/Selfridges personal shoppers would be Westfield who have mall wide personal shoppers.
