Moisturiser with spf or two separate products?

So I'm trying to decide the above really. Do I buy a moisturiser with added spf ( ideally 30), or use a facial sunscreen as well as my normal moisturiser? What do you all do? Any recommendations for products would be great, I'm 57 with dry skin.

It blows my mind that someone would use SPF AND moisturiser at the same time tbh. That just seems like so much product, I feel like my face would sweat.

I only wear a good SPF cream in summer...I have very dry skin but there's no way I'd need moisturiser on top as well.

But sun creams are not the same and none of the moisturisers sit on the skin they absorb.

minimum spf 50 on face and neck, separate from moisturiser. Put this on and leave 5-10mins to absorb into skin then can apply other products/makeup etc

@MissyB1 @PhoebesGuitar is spot on. Lots of factor 50 and layering. Yeah it takes time but at nearly 57 it sure pays off long term. And I always wear a hat in the sun. I sometimes use an over make up spf spray which speeds up drying time but often wear full on sun cream. Especially on hands and neck.

I skip moisturiser. Just use serum and Nivea Q10 sunscreen, every day all year round.

Separate products always. Makeup and moisturisers with SPF do not work. They only add enough protection to big up the products. It's a con.

I speak from experience; I have had 4 skin cancers cut out of my face so far, this is what the experts had told me.

Crikey that's sobering, companies shouldn't be allowed to make the claims about sun protection if its not true.

I've been wearing a hat as well as spf 30 these last few days whilst I've been gardening.

I use a factor50 sunscreen instead of a moisturiser.. my dry skin is perfectly happy.

Yes - I use biore watery essence spf 50 and it's enough of a moisturiser for my skin at 57

I completely agree - it is a con. Laura Mercier tried to tell me about spf in a tinted moisturiser but I told her this was nonsense as I would never use enough tinted moisturiser for it to be effective - I think it's something like a teaspoon?
She seemed surprised.

I feel really strongly about this, I also think its particularily aimed at women and girls.

@MinnieCauldwell
This has reminded me of the talk of using men's facial products a couple of years ago. Iirc some were saying the formulations were better for the price. With the ubiquity of shrink and pink, I'm going to have a look at them now that I've been reminded.

That's a thought, they know how to play women.

You can layer the spf with the moisturiser and also topped up after that throughout the day.
So here goes my routine:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Evening:
Micellar water
Cerave moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel
