Closed toe slingbacks and tights?

I'm going out tonight in a knee length dress. I have new closed toe/open heel shoes which I'd like to work. It's quite formal/and will be a bit chilly possibly so I'd like to wear tights? Yes or no?

I’ve never thought that sling back shoes work with tights but maybe with nude tights?

Atarin · 29/04/2025 13:54

For tights to be thick enough to keep you warm, it will probably look odd. I think nude tights can look old fashioned.

Fancytallglass · 29/04/2025 13:56

I think it can work with the right tights. I would avoid nude as this looks like you're trying to hide the fact you're wearing tights and looks crap. It can work with patterned tights - lacy floral or animal print. Or with a bold colour tights. It really depends on your overall style and look and what the dress and shoes are like.

These all looks good. Black would work actually too.

Dress is fitted. Green and black. Shoes are a dark burgundy with block heels. I have some sheer black tights.

I would automatically say no - but it looks like it’s a personal choice? Also not sure I love the idea of a block heel and some tights! Have you tired it all together?

It’s for a graduation. So will have a long black gown over the top hiding most of the dress. I don’t want to wear a dress which is longer than the gown and don’t have many short dresses.

I should probably have started thinking about this more than a few hours before the ceremony! 🙈

Definitely tights for a graduation and the shoes are not ones to wear without tights as those straps could rub

Love the shoes, dont like the dress and dont think it'll work with the tights 'look'.
