Flat shoes to go with a denim midi shirt dress

I recently bought some Converse Mary Janes - the instep support is really comfortable, and I purchased some washable terry towelling insoles so that I don't have to faff around with trainer liners that still show and rarely stay in place.
they're canvas, but i feel comfortable wearing them for the office.

At the same time I purchased some bright red mary janes ; i love how they look, but the complete flatness made them so uncomfortable - resolved with shaped insoles that cost almost as much as the shoes
Worth paying more for shoes that aren't totally flat if you're going to wear them all day.

I haven't bought any yet, but very keen on the shoes from Vivaia (their ads keep coming up on this site) has anyone tried them?

edit - the totally flat red shoes are Tu, just spotted the link above.
Maybe it's just me being ancient!
