Help me cover my arse

Sorry for the blunt title but I need help coving my bum, quite literally. I would like a swimming costume as I'm on holiday the week after next (in the UK). I have a three year old so they'll be no glamorous lounging around, I need aomething I can play with him in. My trouble is I need a confidence boost, I've put two stone on since having him/stopping breastfeeding. It's all on my hips/bum, and these high leg costumes instantly turn to a thong on me.

I'm flexible with patterns/simple colours but I don't want anything too bright/look at me. I normally shop at Hush/Whistles/Boden, happy to spend up to £55. I also need somewhere with decent quick delivery. Bonus points for tummy control!

I wear something like these with a swimming costume/bikini/tankini. Honestly, they're great.

Patterned board shorts

Or there's always the reliable beach wrap around your waist, as long or short as you want:

Long wrap/sarong

I don’t think you need to cover yourself up with shorts and sarongs etc. your body doesn’t need to be hidden away. Plenty of costumes aren’t high leg and are still lovely!

I was away last week and saw a lot of people in the m&s scallop. They’ve got some great stuff at the moment with matching beachwear. What about this? It has detachable straps too so versatile https://www.marksandspencer.com/santa-monica-twist-front-bandeau-swimsuit/p/clp22585400?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

If you do want a swimming costume as opposed to separates, maybe consider something like this? I just find that with a swimming costume, the very design of it all being one piece means that the bottom is pulled upwards, whereas you don't get this issue with separates.

If you get a swimsuit with the ties on the leg, they can be let up or down depending on how high you want the leg to be, I let them right down because the lower cut is more flattering on me!

JOLYN swimwear. It’s what athletic swimmers use so has more coverage but still lots of pretty patterns and styles

SavoySteam · 27/04/2025 08:46

I got this one from Asda for my teenage daughter - it covers the bum and the front a bit, and looks really cute on.

curvy kate do some lovely swimsuits that are supportive and have decent coverage while still being a bit glam - I have their wrapsody swimsuit (which has lovely multiway ties) and it’s very comfortable but looks really nice. Worth a look!

Allseeingallknowing · 27/04/2025 19:45

Swim shorts are more flattering, and there is more choice these days.

WildBalonz · 04/05/2025 14:30

I have the same problem as you I’m blessed with a big bum so my arse ends up eating half the bikini and it looks like I’m wearing one of the thong style ones 😂. I’ve found yours clothing do nice ones with a wider cut on the hips which has been my go to for a while. Covers the whole bum and you don’t have to worry about any stray hairs because they are wider cut at the front also.

Inthemane · 04/05/2025 14:40

If you want a one-piece that covers a lot, next do a shorts swimsuit in black and leopard: https://www.next.co.uk/style/su387334/964782

I'm probably 20 years older then you @Vimaybe, but also heavier thsbnid like to be. I bought this seimsuit from Land's End last year and loved it so much I bought another. Mine and blue and black, but it seems they only have pink this year. It's very forgiving.

Stichintime · 04/05/2025 15:38

Half the models bottom is hanging out the Asda one!
